hello all.
just joined the forum, looking for some advice please.my brother has owned many landies, and for the last 10yrs has owed a 101.after fitting a 6.2ltr gmc diesel, the 101 took back burner till now.yes the old girl breaths again, after 9yrs the the silly bugger wants to use it again.the only problem......brakes.rather lack of them.he and his mate are both hgv fitters,so the aint novices, and cant get a decent peddle,he has asked me to ask you(he has no internet) if any of your members have any help and advice as to get a decent peddle.they have tried every method you could shake a stick at.everything is new/master cylinder brake cylinders.bled allways????anyone help.any ideas? thanks in advance.

ps.told him not to get rid of his 90:D

if its been stood for 9 yrs, then maybe some some new flexi brake pipes are in order?

yes.just spoke to him on phone.he has used an eezi bleed but cant get a good seal on resovoir, odd size he says?going to try and find a better cap,i will keep you informed on his progress.he says hi and thanks.

the latest on the brakes.the tops of the fluid resovoirs are of a leyland frieghter/hgv.£15 each new.got some from a brakers.the old ones where completly goosed. converted one of the new tops to use with eezibleed.new return springs fitted to all brakes as well.used the eezibleed, and got some sort of pedal.however,we have tried the brakes on another 101 and there not great either.it appears this is the norm with 101s.lets just hope it passes the mot.thanks for the posts.

Ker-ching! You said it buddy. Who needs brakes when you've got a 101, eh?
If the guys at the MOT station are any good they'll understand this ("what do you mean: poor brakes? It's a Land Rover!") :p

Hi with the Eazi bleed unit there may be a small difference of fittings. See if the reservoir cap is imperial and not metric. On some other miliary vehciles it may be necessary to undo more than one beeld nipple as they can have a specific dual system
