Though I would share this one with you , got the dreaded eas inactive message on the dash . I have had the car for just over three years and quickly realised after a few expensive trips to the garage it would be worth buying the rsw solutions soft ware plugged it in read the fault codes and it came up with reservoir pressure static when filling, so after a quick search decided to check the pressure coming out of the compressor by unplugging it from the air line and turning on ignition, as you can imagine there was very little pressure coming out . I could easily stop it by putting my thumb over the airline. Looked online and the cheapest I could get a genuine wabco complete compressor was Ribble Valley 4x4 LTD , this was ordered on the Monday and delivered Tuesday morning. This took about one hour to fit then recalibrated the suspension and now all is running fine . Also decided to buy one of those refurb kits to repair the old one and know that also works. I brought the new pump as I use my car for my business so it cannot be off road for any length of time. Plus was not sure if repair kit would work. Strange thing is it gave no warning so that it was about to give out , as only a couple of weeks ago had service and the always check to see if its working properly.

The front airsprings upper seals rotate with the springs, it's a perculiar design which always ends up leaking..

Most likely a dead pump which has been caused by, as Data said a leaking spring or 4 ;)

Get underneath with some soapy water and have a spray around the springs, if you see bubbles then you've found the leak!

Hi thanks for all your messages all air bags plus valve blocks plus air lines were checked, the air system is air tight no other problems. As for the recalibration this was only done as a matter of best practice, correct just changing compressor would not require this but i can so I did. Just thought I would share a common problem and how I fixed it

Remember the car is coming up 14 years old. If it is the original compressor it hasn't done badly IMO! They don't last forever. IIRC the compressors are dated somewhere???

But You never know, it may have had a leak at some point before you purchased it in it's earlier life which took some of the life out of it....

Hi not sure if it's the original compressor but it is a Wabco tried to find date but can't, but last year did have both front airbags replaced because of leaks. But as you pointed out for nearly 14 years old that's not bad

Try this in Google "l322 air suspension compressor repair kit". Watch the videos for Wabco Pump Refurb. They are all basically the same on L322, Mercedes, Audi, etc. but the mounting brackets differ !!

X8R are good, but strip & check your cylinder & piston first in case you also need those. Other people reckon "bagpipingandy" on eBay is good as well.

Anyone point me to compressor repair kit pls?
2002 r/r fatty
Are there diff kits etc or all same?

First check what pump you have incase it was changed before you got it.
I agree ^^^X8R are good and if you have the Wabco then consider their upgraded drier cap as the plastic 1s can crack between the pipes.

J

Get the model number off the pump, and contact X8R. They will recommend exactly which kit you need. I spoke with them recently, and the tech support guy agreed most are the same, but best to check.

Ok, Just trying to help others, I didn't know there was a limit.
No limit but just suspicious about relatively new members posting links , unbelievably we've had spammers touting their wares on here,or at least trying to.the Moderators take a dim view of such actions.;) BTW there is a better battery recommended by many members from battery mega store, the MF 13 1000 from memory.

I appreciate your sentiments, but the links in question I have used myself, so I know they work, the items that is, no kickbacks involved. Batteries, well were do you start, when I looked, you could get a BOSCH one for £260 f.that. If anyone can recommend a good battery for these vehicles, I for one am all ears. I checked the website in question £126, I will stick to mine, thank you all the same

£126 was quoted for my vehicle, which is a bit more than £100 delivered that is, each to his own I suppose. I will stick with tanyna

Just fitted a numax c31-1000, very similar to the mf31-1000.
Fitted to a an l322 4.2sc V8. Spins over like a top. Mega upgrade. The P38 takes on a new life with the same spec batteries.
