@Huntinghicap Thanks for the kind words, it was a good little adventure and great to meet you.
It would be a shame if LZIR couldn't be kept going. It must take quite a bit to stay on top of it all though, mainly for those like @The Mad Hat Man who coordinate posts and responses. I know there is all the hard core draggin people out of muddy lanes that they maybe shouldn't have ventured down type stuff, but equally there's the help with a few tools and getting spare parts that lots of folk might be able to do.
Let's hope LZIR does keep going.
Cheers

As far as I can see, the map is a fantastic concept. So if I understand this correctly, if someone breaks down in the middle of nowhere, they can find the nearest help through the map but this depends on the message being sent to 'admin' and then being forwarded? If that is correct, then that is more burden on 'admin'.
If so, I was therefore wondering if there are any features on Xenforo that could enable users to message each other confidentially, without the need for 'admin' to be directly involved.
Or maybe I simply misunderstand how this works!

Not everyone wants their details made public. Plus there is an established procedure that works well, if a bit cumbersome.
I totally agree with not making details public and data protection legislation would apply anyway. However you already have a directory of user contact details and members could be automatically added/removed to the map from their personal details if they so wished (check box). Using a membership directory it is possible to set up a web form so no personal data is shared, just the ability to send a message from one member to another. I just did not know if a) this would help (faster and less cumbersome) and b) if Xenforo has this capability.
Just a thought!

Not sure, but our biggest problem is abuse of the system.

Speshully by noobs ...

On the understanding that it isn’t made public! A lot on the list are no longer members, and without contacting them all I could see it being a nightmare.
when someone needs a hand we send them a contact number? We could reverse that and send the stuckees number to the local bod instead stead. Either way a real non issue.
