Paint job vs. wrapping

Looking to get a full re-spray and was just wondering on the costs involved. Have had mixed reviews about both. any tips would be greatful.

with resprays you get what you pay for. i had a £2500 (paint and prep only, i stripped the car) respray on my car 10 years ago and is my daily and lives outside and hasn't a blemish. ever place i go people compliment it on its deep shine and super smooth finish.
on the other hand i had a car sprayed for £200. looked really good...for about a year before it looked pants. the window rubbers were simply taped rather than windows removed so it started to peel around the windows etc

most of it is down to the prep work, rust removal etc. but get plenty of recommendations and don't just go with the cheapest.

i'm afraid this really is one of the 'you get what you pay for' moments

plastic looks cool from a distance, but rubbish up close imo. mate of mine covered his camper van in tartan material!

A Landy would be fairly easy to wrap as there aren't too many complicated sections... expect a professional wrap to cost £1000-£1500 though. For a bit more you can have a proper respray done

As per steves post, the more work you're willing to put in, the cheaper the respray will be. If you're able to do the dissassembly (removing trim, lights etc) and some of the paint prep, this will bring down the overall cost.

At the end of the day a wrap is just a thin plastic skin isn't it, so it's gonna snag on brambles and look crap if you've any plans to go laning etc. If it's only gonna be used on road then it would last ok.

Thats a very good point.... I thought about shelling out for a paint job on a tired 1994 90. In the end I kept the original colour, prepped it and hand painted it! I am happy with it (pics on profile) and have no worries about scratches... just get the paint pot out You would not know it was hand painted till you got up close and for £40 I am very happy. I could always strip it back and get a 'propper' job done, but I sleep at night and park and drive anywhere.
Just depends on how old and how long you want to keep it. You wont get your money back in the log run.

He's on our MINI forum and is generally considered to be the guru when it comes to graphics (he's done my MINI). He does other things too though, and I suspect he'd love to do a Landy!

i decided against the wrap..took it to the shop and they wanted it basically all prepped bubbles rubbed down and filled any dents filled and rubbed down,basically a full prep b4 they would even consider taking the job on..and at £1600 i dont fink so..

Well you could have the ultimate camo if you had a Bush as the wrap LOL
