    P38 v8 / disco 300 tdi

And she's gone. Achieved target price and sold to an enthusiast who'll enjoy her as much as I have over the last decade.

    P38 v8 / disco 300 tdi

Many thanks Stan.....there's a little bit of me that hopes she doesn't sell! If there's one thing I've learnt, it's that P38's are a cruel mistress. You become infactuated, they bleed you dry and leave you questioning why you ever got involved. Yet on the rare day that planets are aligned and...

    P38 v8 / disco 300 tdi

Did you get yourself sorted out Garboy88? Just put mine through an MOT so she's good to go. Given her conditon, I'd for 2k but would knock 10% off for a LandyZone member as I'd want her to go to a good home.

    P38 v8 / disco 300 tdi

Mine (99 4.6 V8 HSE) is in for a ticket at the moment but thinking of selling up for something more agricultural in the new year. She's in fine condition inside and out so not really a project.......which would probably be reflected in the asking price. She's just turned 100K and I'm just the...

Really enjoyed reading these updates & inspired to go and shower a little TLC on my old girl! Keep up the great work!

    which MAF to buy?

My local LR indy tried to do me a favour by fitting a cheap aftermarket MAF (can't remember the make but it was around £40)....and had to recover my P38 4.6 after the part failed within 24hrs. Then went to the other extreme and fitted a LR original MAF which cost £170 - ouch!. HOWEVER, the P38...

    Octane rating

Brimmed mine with Shell Optimax/V Power once.......performance did increase in the low and mid range but economy fell right off. Think I got around 240 to a tank and an average of something like 11.5 mpg (extra urban) where usually I can stretch it to 325/13.9 mpg. It's like giving champagne...

    Oh perfect timing!

Jeez....indy just took her for a final test drive. Felt she was struggling for breath and air intake wasn't right...new sensor on order so guessing that's a MAF. Ho hum.....I've had 3 trouble-free years so guessing my turn for a few niggles is back.... Deep joy....

    Oh perfect timing!

Latest report back is an iffy crank sensor....watch this space!

    Oh perfect timing!

There are 2 days a year when the 99 4.6 HSE really earns her keep. When it snows or when it throws it down as heavily as it's forecast this week. So what a perfect time to throw a wobbly! Mentioned to the local indy when he put a ticket on her in November that there was a warm start...

    revs nt going above 3k

Check the battery terminal leads. My 99 4.6 HSE used to throw up ABS and Traction Control Failure messages all the time. Knew my leads did the job but weren't exactly snug so replaced the battery (which was on the way out anyway), got everything tightened up and not had an error message since...

    And she's back!

Many thanks Datatek my learned friend! She wants to change up to 4th and you can feel her making multiple attempts but won't engage when feeding too much power through. She doesn't over-rev whilst doing so but I'm caught in drive no-mans land whilst she's trying. I can get around it by...

    And she's back!

Will do Ovalandrover.... Out of interest, does anybody have strong views on what brand of fuel they use? I found cheap supermarket petrol a false economy so seem to get the best performance and mpg from Shell unleaded. Took out a 2nd mortgage and filled up with 98 ron Shell V Power once...

    And she's back!

Mrs F's rag-top top now in storage for the winter, 'The Beast' (1999 V8 HSE, Immaculate Rioja Red 99.5K on the clock) back on the road. Two new bags on the front, new battery and straight through the MOT. Put her through a heat cycle every week whilst stood up and vapour in the exhaust gas had...

Two problems solved in one !!!

Going to try this Tony2. Just getting mine on the road for winter after being stood for 6 months. She's been put through a heat cycle every week but not driven any distance. 3rd to 4th is a problem. Won't shift when accelerating hard in normal or Sport mode. Hits 40000 rpm and tries but won't...

    P38orn

Here's my pride and joy.... Just about to prep her for going back on the road for Autumn/Winter (when madam is persuaded that little rag tops and county lanes don't mix). To do list: Two new bags for the front Replace oil and filter on box Face the music and check head gaskets (faint wiff of...

    P38

Hi H17N DJ - she's used for short runs getting the Mrs to and from work and I always preferred running the full-fat petrol version as opposed to LPG. She's averaging 13.3mph on an urban run. GfromLeeds - I know but love is blind! The bulk of the receipts came from her 'tantrum years' but she's...

    P38

Hi H17N DJ....and hello board! Got a Rioja Red 99 4.6HSE V8 with 99K on the clock...and in very, very good condition. Owned for the last 7 years (as a 2nd car and done 24,000 in this time) and maintained regardless of cost by indi LR garage.....around 7k of receipts and FSH. Used in the winter...

Official the P38 is the worst Landrover ever made

My love was blind for my 99! Then I started hanging around forums and now suspect her like a paranoid boyfriend suspects a girlfriend slightly too good for him. She'll let me down one day....but she's a hell of a ride until then.
