    Defender 90 300tdi tie bar

After a little searching on my issue it seems that someone posted a similar question some time ago but didn't get an answer. The tie bar on the front off side on my Defender seems to have different size holes to the steering box, also where the end of the tie bar fits into the other piece there...

    300tdi/TD5 Exhaust problems.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone can offer me some advise. I have a 94 defender 90 with a 300tdi engine but the chassis has been changed for a galv TD5 chassis with the fuel tank at the rear. I can't seem to find an off the shelf exhaust that would fit properly. I can't really afford a custom...

    Tyres swop, anyone interested?

I have just bought a defender with the following tyres on: BFGoodrich Mud terrain LT285/75 R16 and they are a little to extreme for the amount of offroading that i will be doing. 5 in total, the spare is brand new and the other 4 have only only done 600 miles. Not marked, punctured or damaged in...

Clunk seems to come from diff

I've finally figured out what the problem is. The shaft that fits into the rear hub is excesivly worn and when rocking the car backwards and forwards it makes it click. Has anyone heard of using blue lock tight to glue the shaft into the hub. The hub is still good and I don't fancy paying out...

Clunk seems to come from diff

Thanks for the advise guys, you keep me sane at times. The saying that "correct diagnosis is key" is really apt for landrovers. Keep the suggestions coming, I'm making a list.

Clunk seems to come from diff

Sorry should have been more specific, it's a 2001 D2, Td5 manual which wouldn't have the A frame on the rear diff.

Clunk seems to come from diff

After lots of searching on this site i cant seem to get a definitive answer to my problem. When pulling away and changing gear from first to second on neutral throttle i get a clunk which sounds like its coming from the diff. It sounds like a gear catching or something moving. It does it at...

Weird vibration and power steering box..

Ive got the same problem myself. After spending some time searching this site, it seems the best option unless you are mechanically compitant is to have it replaced with a reconditioned unit by a specialist. There are some great guides on here about doing the job but i felt a little unshure...

    Give me strength

It's a 2001 and I think some tool must have had it before me because the service history just stopped 20000 miles ago. Just had diff pinion seals done and rear is still leaking. Talk about kicking you when your down. Has any one heard of flange kits for the diff. I'm told it will sort it.

    Give me strength

Just bought my second discovery and now and I’m having a major ball ache with it. First off to try and stop the many oil leaks with sump gasket, rocker gasket, crankshaft seal, new oil way pipe. Next its leaking from the gearbox so box out, input shaft seal, new clutch and find out the dual mass...

    TD5 Leaking Gearbox oil

Just had the same problem with mine. Turns out the input shaft seal in the gearbox has gone. Gearbox out so major job and pain in the ass. Change the clutch and transfer box seal while its out if its over 100000 miles.
