    P38 Diesel oil cooler

My turn to resurrect this thread ;) Removing the intercooler to access the oil cooler seems OK from the manual, I can't see anything on removing the oil cooler pipes from the engine end though, looks like the disappear under the oil filter, is it much of a job at that end? Thanks for any info!

    Aircon, leak from servicing connection

Nothing definitive I'm afraid, I got another set of pipes including valves of eBay which kept the gas in better, still managed to leak out over 18mnths though.

    Blowing neither hot nor cold

Cheers for the info, got further with the diagnostics since I posted, It came down to 2 faults, 1) AC needs a re0gas 2) The Left & right heat distribution/blend servos on the blink. Got at them and took them apart, the 10K ohm potentiometers were giving out rubbish values, new ones ordered...

    Blowing neither hot nor cold

Yup, my turn for the blend motors problem! From the wealth of information available I think I'm clear on what needs to be replaced but I wanted to list my symptoms here and get a double check on what I'm thinking, so Symptom: I can't get any hot or cold air to blow into the cabin. Just ambient...

    Auto not changing up

I changed the oil and filter, along with all the other fluids, when I acquired it last year, done under 5K miles since then. Fluid level is fine. Burning ECU, don't like the sound of that! I'll go for a spin and give it a sniff! Thanks for the feedback.

    Auto not changing up

Recently the auto box on my diesel has needed lots of revving to get it to change up through the gears, something like 3k rpm+ to get it into third. Once the engine is warmed up though the problem goes away and it drives fine for the rest of the day, including starting/stopping. Searching...

Leak from oil filler cap (Diesel)

Excellent I was hoping that was the case, thanks.

Leak from oil filler cap (Diesel)

Noticed its started leaking a small but consistent amount from around the filler cap, any thoughts on what could cause this? Checked the oil level and that's fine, the crankcase breather is also not blocked as far as I can see (can blow through it!). Only thought I had was that I'd lost an...

    Electrical connector not connected ?

This. I found one and worried about it for a while...then found its twin on the other side and the penny dropped!

    Aircon, leak from servicing connection

Thanks guys, carairconditioningsupplies list the correct item, FJC OE R134a Replacment Service Port-High Side OE 134a :: Service Port Caps :: Autokool Ltd, but have no stock. Seems to be plenty of places selling R134a adapters but not the actual service valves themselves. And they have non...

    Aircon, leak from servicing connection

Thought I'd got the AC working after replacing one of the relays, turns out I hadn't, compressor still not kicking in reliably. Got the compressor to work by shorting the black/yellow & white/green wires on the tri switch. Pipes got cold and cold air into the cabin, not exactly arctic cold...

Drag link & track rod ball joints, need replacement?

Ouch! you must be made of strong stuff...or rather Nissans aren't! Replaced my drag link & track rod today, used a little ball joint separator from machine mart for the drag link Clarke CHT222 Ball Joint Separator - Machine Mart The track rod ones were happy to pop out on their own!

    Measuring battery drain

Right that's useful to know.but the fact that the locks etc had no power seems to me very odd. And the reading just kept going up, didn't seem related to the cart at all...beginning to think my meter is acting up.

    Measuring battery drain

Had another going reading it with the meter in series. Still no joy it really. It started reading around 0.5 amps...but it just kept going up, by about a hundredth of an amp each second or so. Also the car had no power, couldn't lock it to put the BECM to sleep or anything, so not really sure...

Hot weather, of course the aircon is not working

So now I need a new yellow relay, plenty on eBay. Are they all the same, some seem to have a different part number and a lump on the top... is this RANGE ROVER P38 DIESEL YELLOW RELAY YWB 10012 | eBay which has the correct number(YWB 100 12) the same as Range Rover P38 Yellow Siemens Relay...

Hot weather, of course the aircon is not working

Thanks to all for all the pointers, found and followed the green/white wire to the connector on the compressor. Turns out I just needed to get the under-tray and bit further out of the way to see it (does any bother to re-fit the damn tray once you've got it out? So AC & 0.02v going to the...

Hot weather, of course the aircon is not working

Thanks for the tip I'll see if I can spot the wire. When I looked yesterday I could just about see the drive pulley on the front of the compressor but wouldn't be able to reach it without removing the viscous fan at least. From underneath I couldn't see it at all really.

Hot weather, of course the aircon is not working

I'll give that a try, if I do need to access how do I best get it it? Also lots of threads here talking about the trinary/tri pressure switch which is often a cause of issues. I can't see it mentioned in RAVE, just a dual & single pressure switches near the drier. Can someone point me towards it.

Hot weather, of course the aircon is not working

Trying to see why the aircon is not producing much in the way of chilling and I'm stuck at a fairly fundamental point. I can see the compressor (to the left of water pump as I look into the engine from the front) but I can't work out how to access it to check its getting a voltage. From above...
