mate i've only fitted a remake of the original Zenith. and this was due to the old old one pumping out fuel through the throttle spindle. i thought this was the main reason why the fuelling was down but now it has got worse.

Now i do know that series landies aren't the most fuel efficient motors in the worl. but surely less than 11mpg is really really bad. any ideas on what could be happening??? also i just replaced the carb. cud this have any effects?????

nomadafrik it seems to me like you have done this all so many times. thanks very much for the advice and kit ideas. how much money do you reckon will be necessary for a month??????????? my mate who is coming with me spent a month in morrocco on 500 quid and we thinking bout a grand for the month...

see what i have done is cut out the solenoid and used the live feed from the battery straight to the ignition and also the alternator. i got all three in a junction as i have been advised. this seems to be working fine at the mo. the alternator is alternating and the igniton is hmmmm...

diode pack??????????????? the alternator should run to the battery. so what about the ignition wires?? where do they run??????

It was all three. The Alternator, ignition and solenoid(which was the problem) and also some auxillary bits. connected them all up and the charge light. jumped the solenoid and went straight to the battery now she works. But for how long i wonder..

right got it. take the three bigger wires connect them together.then the charge lightand connect it to alternator and roberts your uncles brother

the biggest prob is someone else has fittted the alternator and i'm not sure what wires have been crossed. so i think its gonna be best to rip it out and start again. especially as the regulator has broken. when i crossed two wires earlier it all worked these were the wires to the left of the...

lots of sites say i need to remove the regulator box completely. and al the wires to go with it. but do u think this will be the reason why i have to power anywhere not even lights???????

right then mr slob any ideas how we can eradicate the need for the regulator. i have it out as its' knackered. just soldered it together. But if there is a way and i'm sure that there. do u know it????????????

it has an alternator. i hopefully have sourced it to the regulator box. by accident i touched the two left hand connectors and everything worked. but then a small puff of smoke and it all stopped. just wondering why it still needs the regulator when it has no dynamo??????

all new bolts it annoys me cos it was literally an hour or so then it wnet. i thought a fuse blew so i checked it. the igniton lights went on then off straight away

it is tight. scrubbbed up and all greased

is it just me being cursed with engones or ha anybody else with a series II had a prblem with fuel squirting from the carb when the engines is either not running or on the over run?

so a weber it is then??? the fuel consumption is down really really low with the zenith. bout 50 miles from half a tank
