Leaky radiator on SIII 2.5 petrol

Sorry MHM, I thought that was metal stuff. However, thankyou one and all, you've got me out of the doodoo with Mrs. T. She thought I was going to have to spend even more "on that bloody heap!" T

Leaky radiator on SIII 2.5 petrol

Unbelievable Slob, you've saved me a fortune and a right pain in the 'arris ! £1.99 for a tube of araldite from the Post Office and job done. I've had it up to working temp and if anything, the stuff seems to get harder. Bloody marvellous! T.

    Is that araldite? T.

Leaky radiator on SIII 2.5 petrol

I was going to take the whole thing out and do it in the garage. I suppose it might be a case of "nothing ventured, nothing gained". I have all the gear necessary, but probably not the skill. I've just found a cheap one on flea bay though, so that may be an option. T.

Leaky radiator on SIII 2.5 petrol

Not posted for a while because everythings been running brilliantly, (I even took it on 150 mile round trip  ). However, the radiator has decided it wants to be a water feature and has developed a hole about halfway up in the front of the cooling fins, giving the impression of that peeing...

    Paint

Hi all, this is a question about suitable paint for my series 3. I mentioned to somebody the other day that I was thinking of hand painting it and he turned around and said that I would have to use special paint. He seemed to think that some paints have a chemical reaction with the aluminium...

    I love it!

I've had my series 3 for about 6 months now and have done all sorts of mechanical things to it that I didn't think I could possibly do. 4 days ago my mondeo TDCI developed some sort of fuelling problem, spookily at the same time as my Landy. (I was full of conspiracy theories etc.). The...

    Water

I now have another tale of woe that I hope is connected to my "swimming" episode. I checked the engine oil level today and as I withdrew the dipstick was dismayed to find a grey sludge halfway up. The oil is also grey and there is a white creamy substance on the oil filler tube and cap. My...

    Water

Did the front and rear axles yesterday. The front came out a funny greenish colour and the back was greyish,(water). Cleaned up the breathers and they work ok now too. Gearbox and overdrive next weekend and then the front swivel pins and that'll be all the fluids done - hurrah! T.

Cheers Slob, sound advice as per usual. T.

    Water

Uh oh, the axles were submerged for about 30 mins whilst I went to get the farmer. Will they need draining and re-filling now? T.

    Water

Thought I'd try a bit of river crossing today. Jumped out, checked the depth before I went in and it came about 2/3rds of the way up the tyre, so I thought it would be ok. Drove in slowly and got halfway through what in effect was a swollen brook, and it stopped. The water was deep enough to...

Brake Saga 2 (revenge of the Landy)

Mine passed with loose seats, I think they're being a bit pedantic at this place. It may well be worth swallowing the loss of the mot cost at the first garage and going somewhere else. The bloke who did mine accepted that it was old fashioned and even cut me a bit of slack in a couple of areas...

    Rear springs

A quick adjust of the fns brake and it flew through the MOT. Chuffed to bits! T.

    Rear springs

Started at 0930 this morning and finished half an hour ago, (1300). Much easier than I was expecting:D I loosened all the nuts, (I think the soak in WD40 did the trick), before doing any jacking and went from there. The second one took half the time the first one did and the only expletive...

    Rear springs

All new bits ordered yesterday and hopefully arriving today. Bushes already fitted and I've invested in a can of copper grease and a "very long" bar. Everything has been soaked in WD40 and I'm about to go off and get some axle stands. Silly question time - where's the best place to put the axle...
