mines dint have bushes fitted but thats not to say another source might have them fitted to avoid the chance of blowing yer self up. get noo bolts nuts and u-bolts as the others will be fooked
The springs I got (britpart) from Beamends had the bushes fitted. I'd certainly go for replacing all the parts you you think might help and whacking in the copperease to save a bit of effort for next time!
Having had the misfortune of needing to get 8 of these U bolts off I can say that they do fairly crack off (watch your knees with the angle grinder )
A few cuts partially through on either side of the U bolt will help and you could maybe use a big cold chisel to split them...
Even then, they can be stubborn but at least the tension's much reduced.
if you use the socket way wiff a long bar the buggers shear at the nut end, that makes it easier to remove them and you don't get a face full of angle grinder, nor do you risk cutting summun you dint wanna cut.. ask yella he knows all about that
All new bits ordered yesterday and hopefully arriving today. Bushes already fitted and I've invested in a can of copper grease and a "very long" bar.
Everything has been soaked in WD40 and I'm about to go off and get some axle stands.
Silly question time - where's the best place to put the axle stands on the chassis?
Where to put axle stands on a series - anywhere thats not rusted!
Changed the springs on mine a while back - one thing to watch is that they are handed - get it wrong and your landrover will look like a certain italian tower.
Also Take care when undoing as there are some heavy things comming free - and I dont mean Slobs wallet - i left the wheels on and just touching the ground so didnt have to catch the axle. Oh deep fun
Started at 0930 this morning and finished half an hour ago, (1300). Much easier than I was expecting
I loosened all the nuts, (I think the soak in WD40 did the trick), before doing any jacking and went from there.
The second one took half the time the first one did and the only expletive used was when I dropped the spring on two fingers .
Thanks for the help chaps, hopefully it'll pass the MOT now.
