hello, ive just bought a 2005, 55 reg td4, this has the new style headlight from 2005-2007 . can i fit the clip on headlight grilles/guards that fit the 1998-2004 models? ive studied the shape of the headlamps and apart from the fact that mine has a semi circle on the bottom of the headlamp...

just noticed, have you got a 80mm bullbar and tubeular sump guard fitted? ive got the same.

Thank you, im now wiser, yes the noise when i tried to spin the wheel was coming from exactley that area. I could see looking down into the engine that when the wheel turned 2" the prop would do the same and click, but go no further. Thanks for those photos

thanks for that, i jacked the freelander up so one front wheel was off the ground and tried to spin it, but no joy, it moved forward bout 2" ,which turned the prop 2" but heard the sound im trying to pinpoint (not fast clicking , but definatley that click)was coming from right at the front end...

hi, thanks for the reply. The clicking noise was there at least 4 months before clutch change, the noise happens when im accelerating through the gears, or when in low revs, or say im doing 40mph in 3rd gear, and traffic slows me to 30mph, when i accelerate again(without changing up)it sounds...

ah, im getting this now, im coming across as a thicko newbie, but i am not.(please read in a nice tone), my original enquiry was questioning the use of coolant as was confused as to where the radiator came into the picture(cant spell akwayshun!!!). And the freelander haynes manual is as useful...

thanks for that info, ive looked at my recepit and theyve charged me £18 for gearbox oil. no mention of IRD oil.

hi, he didnt show me it but he did say a chunk of metal, so i suppose a piece off the cogs. cheers

il certainly give it some thought. you seem to know these things inside out, what happens when the ird totally fails? does the car just stop? thanks for your help on these matters.

ive just had the complete clutch kit replaced and the mechanic said that the oil in the transfer box had gone metalic and a chunk of metal was in it too(when draining). when i accelerate there is a sound similar to that of when you let a bicycle wheel -spokes spin against a stick. what do the...

I recentley had a complete clutch kit fitted to my 1999 freelander (costing £688) of which £30 was for coolant. Was this part of fitting the clutch, ie, would the radiator need to be removed? help me , have i been ripped off?
