    Got my custom coils today. The standard coils were 16.44" (133lbs) on the front and 17.18" (150lbs) on the back. Custom coils are 18.45" on the front and 19.20" on the back. Both 130lbs.

    15w/40 should be fine to use. Infact it will last a bit longer than a 10w40 as there are less viscosity improovers in due to the base (15w) being closer to (40) grade.

    Yeah but with the BOGE the Rangie was able to have much softer spring rates compared to the Disco which gave it supieror articulation. Suppose I am not carrying any weight after choping the rear body and chassis off so it is proberbly useless for my use.

    Cool beans. I am just about to order the Pro Comp 9255## shocks which are +4" extended and +2" closed, and fit 2" higher rear shock mounts and 2" taller turrets with std bump stops. That way I have 2" more travel and with the 2" longer springs more ride height. And keep the BOGE.

    Cheers, So my best bet is my custom 2" longer springs, +2" longer pro comp shocks and either taller bump stops or 1" spacer plates. Sorted!:)

    I was under the impression that 1" longer shocks when compressed would be no problem on std bump stops. You are right about doing to some measureing.

    This is how I understand it. So dislocating springs are a waste of time? I am having coils made two inchs longer which means I won't need dislocation cones fitted when I fit +2" shocks. The closed length of the shock is 1" longer so I should be ok with standard bump stops right?

    Having a 2" spring lift (be it longer or stiffer springs) and +2" shocks won't increase your articulation. Down ward travel is increased by 2" but the upward travel is decreased by 2" if you have fitted extended bump stops to compensate for the longer shocks. Stiffer springs need more...

    Jeep 4.0 engine.

    Mainly for it being more reliable that a RV8, more powerfull than a 200TDI and not having to worrying about upgrading the rest of the drive train as you would with a big 6 liter diesel. And the Jeep engines are easy to come by. I do like the sound of that big diesel though!:D

    Just wondering if it has been done or if it is possible to fit the AMC 242 (Jeep 4.0 straight-6) engine into a Defender. Can bell housings be modified and such? Just seems to be a stronger lump than a Rover V8 being cast iron and puts out similar power as 3.9 V8. Arround 180bhp.
