hi can any one help i have 2 engines 1 3.9 and 1 4.0 ltre.
can the pistons be swapped from the 3.9 to the 4.0, and can the main bearing shells be swapped to the 4.0 ltr.
the heads are the 10 bolt type.

The pistons and the engines are the same, the 3.9 and the 4.0 are the same, it was just LR rebadging. Obvious differences in injection systems excluded. You can check the pistons physically for stamped numbers.

As far as I remember, there is only one piston listed for both engines in Microcat, which I think I posted here in answer to a previous query.

I haven't checked bearing compatibility.

hi still trying to get to the bottom of how the piston rings are postiond and how to space the gaps around the piston.

The differece between 3.9 and 4.0 is the 4.0 have cross bolted main caps.
