I'd say possibly wheel bearing although could be thinking of a completely different noise from "whooing". Would obviously be rear ns if it kicks in on right hand bends...

Sounds like something to do with the alarm system mate, I'm no expert on how they work but I have experienced this. I got my 300 airbourne once and on the landing the hazards came on, mine wouldn't switch off at all until I took the alarm/central locking fuse out.
