First guess was about right. Just want to check it’s not part of mechanism. I’m expecting it to be a method of attracting smaller particles to the mag plug? Seems unlikely to have come from assembly.

This was on the mag plug. On the front diff. There wasn’t one in the rear one.

Why is there a metal cylinder in one of my diffs but not the other? Also how much is too much metal gunk on the magnetic plug? I had no large pieces, maybe a few half mm bits, but a lot of filings and magnetised oil.

Changing the battery didn’t solve the problem initially. Later, I did improve the contact on the negative terminal though, not sure if this would have such a dramatic effect?
