    £415 Road Tax ! ?

I've got a '68 SIIA which gets a £0 disc too, but don't forget that this Government stopped the annual 'rollup' of vehicles qualifying for this benefit, so that the youngest vehicles are now 35 Years old! Not many of those will be used as the daily transport! It's going to be interesting to...

    Propshaft please help

Might be the front prop, mine failed some time ago... If you get underneath and shake the prop near to the coupling 'can' - it's a tripod joint so don't just shake it in one direction! You might even find the rubber gaiter is missing like mine was. If theres any detectable play then it would...

    Fixed Radio display!

I picked up some 12V clear minature bulbs from Homebase after Christmas - they're actually 'push in' replacements for 'fairy lights' but once removed from their plastic carrier they're just standard lamps with leads. I just re-used the LR plastic twisty carrier thingy and job done! Best of all...

Freelander Shaking HELP PLEASE Bella xx

Check the front propshaft to IRD "CV" (Tripod) joint - this went on mine with similar symptoms.

    vibration through whole bloody thing!

Check the front prop CV/tripod joint where it connects to the IRD, that started to fail on mine and similarly caused severe vibration at certain speeds.

    Freelander knocking noise when braking

I'd guess it *is* a CV, but before you go there... the drum might be out of round and hence 'grabbing' as you come to a halt (assuming light braking pressure). Also, are you sure it's the OS/R - sounds often seem to come from where they're not! Oh, and another thing - it could be a flat...

    Clunking Noise

I think you'll find it's the CV / tripod joint that links the IRD to the front prop. Mine went at about 65K , removed the front prop to get rid of the vibration. AFAIK you can't get hold of the tripod joint in order to simply replace, you'll need to buy a whole front propshaft - low end...

    OK to remove prop shaft....?

Remove the front prop (mine went with a knackered 'tripod' joint some time back) and you'll be suprised by the difference! The handling does change as Blippie has said - you'll need to take it easy on the loud pedal when starting off otherwise you'll end up making little progress as the wheels...

    ird

I was thinking about doing the same thing with a 2nd hand ird. "Our Freeda" has a clonk when starting and then once shes warmed up there's a clock when acc/decelerating from time to time. so, has anyone done this themselves using 'ordinary' tools?

    12mpg only! help pls..

I'm not suprised with 12Mpg - that is what ours (1.8) gets when the missus uses it... about 3.5 miles each way to work, it's only just warmed up! When I use it for work (about 20 miles each way on single carriageway 'A' roads) I get fractionally over 28mpg, however a long motorway trip at...

    freelander tail door

I've had a similar problem (posted earlier this evening) and managed to open the door by removing the near side rear trim to get at the wiring loom connectors and energising the lock motor by flashing 12V on the purple/blue wire gently easing the glass out of the top trim - that left me with a...

    Odd tailgate problem

I've looked at the various posts relating to tailgate lock/glass problems but they don't seem to match my situation... any ideas? The problem first occured about 15 months ago, thetailgate wouldn't open as the glass wasn't dropping, managed to get the glass to drop in the end by using the...
