checked the loom for continuity and its good, getting dodgy injector checked out tomorrow, hopefully it will prove to be the problem but my mechanic is not sure if one non functioning injector would cause jeepto ncut out on the road and not restart till cooled down for 15

hi all, on a recent trip i had trvelled 40 miles when engine started to run rough, then it clattered put out losads of white smoke and died, it woulnt restart for 15 minutes it did this every few miles about 6 times. then travelled 60 miles before repeating. its seems ok when cold and injectors...
