Weller are(were? mine was liberated when I finished my apprenticeship about 20yrs ago) good. I think mine is 40W. Tips also make a big difference to heat transfer. Not sure on up to date models though, sorry :o

Bit more info. I spoke to the other company who suspected it was from Scorpion Racing Products and was made from bits not suitable for the job(apparently the DC bit is for use on a PTO shaft and not designed for prop shaft speeds). I emailed them the above pics and they confirmed it. So new...

Press arrived and was assembled. I thought I'd start at the easy end and pressed out the UJ. Then seeing as teh replacement UJs had not then arrived I looked at the other (i.e. double) end. I should have taken a closer look first :rolleyes: The end UJs looks normal/similar to the...

Thanks. It's good to know that it can be done without a press but I've managed to persuade the wife that one would make things easier. She has said that if the garage want to charge more than £50 labour to put in the UJs then I should buy a press and do it myself. I feel a new toy arrival...

That's basically what I thought :) Just need to get a small bench press now to pop them in:rolleyes: Wife is going to love that.

Thanks once again James. I have just measured them and they are 27mm dia and as far as I can tell 84 or 85mm long. So they will be RTC3346 then :) I've done a search on how to change the UJs but I don't have a big vice or press so may need to do some shopping :o It's the UJs (both)...

Spoke too soon :rolleyes: UJs are now knackered :( I've got the prop off now and will have to sort out replacing the UJs. How do I tell what UJs are needed?

Today i removed the front prop. I had a great trip home last night at 45mph with some lovely grinding and grumbling noises coming from under the landy. Managed to get under it today and yup UJs knackered at transfer box end. Still now I know that the centre diff lock works (dash light doesn't...

Made my dash lights work and aligned the steering wheel so that it's in teh right position when going straight(ish)

I spoke to brownchurch when I was thinking of getting my landy as it had one of their racks on and they said that land rover said 75kg max on the roof. the bloke also said they have had 5 people with camera equipment up on top fine (I assume stationary) but they couldn't recomend that people...

As far as I remember all seat belt bolts are 7/16 unf. They might have a metric head though.

Thanks. It's grease, the garage greased them the other day but apperaed to have missed the rear one. I bought a grease gun the other day so thought I'd put some in but got distracted by a cuppa appearing under the landy and filled the already full front one again :o then did the one I meant to...
