VERY busy today....
Finished the wiring for the safari door central locking.
Removed the ultrasonic detector in order to fit it in the rear then re-soldered one of the connections.
Replaced the alarm system main unit & fitted a standard LED
Stripped the dash down so I could wash the rear panel and tray in the bath
Removed a mahoosive amount of really crap wiring and totally tidied it all up.
Cut a section of the dash out for my Raptor dash
Removed the 12v LED and plug for the radar detector plus the top of the dash
Fitted boost gauge into Rapter pod
Fitted ammeter into Raptor pod
Fitted CB & radio into Raptor dash
Test fitted Raptor dash.
I'm using a male and female 24 pin ATX computer power plug to connect the Raptor dash.... Connected all the connections to the 24 pin connector in the car.......
It's too dark to do anything else outside and I had to fit some cupboard, lights and brackets in my grand daughter's bedroom then off to orchestra When I get home I'm going to wire up the dash to the other 24 pin connector then it's just antennas, speakers, power for cigarette lighter, connections for rear wash wipe and the 24 way connector......
I'm going to do a thread about the dash tomorrow, well pleased with it. Raptor is a seriously decent company to do business with and the dash is brilliant quality.

I've bought it a soldering iron. It's a while since I've had one of these as my old one stopped working ages ago. I've played with it this morning and soldered a few wires together in the dining room. It'll feel better to be able to put a little dab of solder on electrical connections rather than just rely on the crimp. The latter often doesn't seem very secure to me.
Be aware that crimp connectors are designed in a different way to solder. By applying solder to a crimp connector, unless done properly will weaken the joint and make it more likely to suffer a stress failure.

Well I've installed the raptor dash with everything wired up. After discussion with them mine has spaces for cb and stereo at the top then two rows of six switches but the bottom left is replaced with the cigarette lighter and the bottom right with the rear wash wipe. Then the two electric window buttons from a disco 2.
Also connected up left and right firing spot lights and fitteda new drivers mat.
Still plenty to do yet, my bought and not yet fitted list includes: steering guard, diff guards, vent rubbers, new style safari door lock to accommodate Central locking plus the central locking for it, raptor top pod for four gauges, a new exhsust, a TD5 dash pod with clocks and a defender transducer .

used the back of my disco as wood delivery truck. - so I thought !!
cleared 4 wheelbarrow loads of unneeded wood from a neighbour roof extention,
still lots left, but i then go me little partner 351 chainsaw out to cu the old wood down to hearth sized burning wood for my daughter.
All in all I got a bit sweaty with overals, coat and hat, phoned my daughter for delivery only to be told-
oh not tonight dad, I dont know where your other (20+) rubble sacks are ????????
so the smelly wood in bags sits still in my disco,
till tomorrow......Grrrrrrr...................................lol...love her to bits really
but must admit was good to get out in the very fresh air and do some work,
landie or other types.
(also got my jcb strimmer out-changed the 2t petrol-refilled with fresh and ran that up till warm too
OK, I`m still a petrol head...so what..
