If you have the part that came off and can compare the size with the new part, and they are the same size.................how can it possibly not fit??

That's a chunky current. It looks like you have the meter set to read AC Amps (~A). Is that the right setting on your meter for reading DC Amps?
I have a feeling the becm would take a lot longer than a couple of minutes to go to sleep - someone else may be able to comment on how...
I think for most cars the standby current is in the order of 25 to 50 milliamps (0.025 - 0.050 Amps)?
I might be imagining it but I think you can sometimes get a short through the alternator - might be worth trying disconnecting that?

From memory the flapper moves a wiper onto a conductive track to switch the pump..........and the wiper tip and/or track can wear out leaving a bad connection, thus stopping the pump.
So a modification which bypasses the flapper switch would be a logical step to overcome this fault, and then...

Just to be clear.......... the heading of your post says ignition light, but the post itself refers to oil pressure light........... is it the oil pressure light you are talking about?

it's not a wire but some other form of conductor
the design and construction is incomplete and it will never work
it works by witchcraft
