After much mulling and trolling the classifieds intently, watching many auctions, constant refreshing of Autotrader, Gumtree, Preloved etc etc etc we went for this.....
Now as the majority know the 2002 to 2005 L322's are plagued with a few 'niggles' but hey ho, where's the fun?
She is a 2002 4.4 Vogue on LPG with a Prins system - currently untested as it had no gas in it - MOT'd until Sept 2018, a few minor niggles that may need to be addressed before the next MOT, but it gives me 6 months to work through those, chiefly corroded rear brake pipe and a slightly perished front upper suspension bush.
Gearbox has been changed within the last 50k miles and a re-manufactured engine fitted in 2008 - In Sept last year she had new VANOS seals, timing chains, guides and tensioner, FSH with stamps in the book. Sold with a 6 month warranty. Previous owner only selling as the DVLA has said he is too infirm and didn't pass the medical to continue driving it.
Currently the steering wheel movement controls don't work, and the LPG tank needs a new airtight cover for the valve gear. Has a slight tapping on cold start, but has been sat in his yard for the last month or so, so could be a lazy valve lifter, and it did quieten down to the usual M62 burble after 30 seconds or so...and oddly when the SAI pump cut off...so could be related to the SAI system.
Drives spot on, no creeks, knocks, bangs or grumbles. Steering is tight and responsive, kicks down nicely and pulls cleanly.
Not 100% perfect, but the exterior and interior have been well looked after, and a stack of receipts that took me nearly 20 minutes to go through.
This is going to be the girlfriends car, as we tried getting her to belt in the baby seat in the P38 and the 110 and she can't reach over the top of the baby seat to do the belt buckle up....so we needed a car with the ISOFIX mount system that we can just click the baby seat in and out of with worrying about the seat belt method....and the only thing she would part with her 110 for is another L322.
Need to now get the 110 prepped and ready for sale, so I can pay my dad back for loaning us the cash to purchase.
Picking it up on Saturday so expect a further review in due course.
I am jealous as it will be her car, but I still get to drive my P38 so not a bad day!
