    Freelander 1 Drive shaft question.

Four years ago I replaced the FLH driveshaft with a Britpart one. The CVJ boot/gaiter split so I organised to either fit a replacement boot OR replace the entire CVJ. Last week I tried to remove the outer CVJ but was unsuccessful. I left it for my mechanics to do. They couldn't remove it either...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Todays mission was to swap out the left front outer CVJ - the rubber gator had torn around the drive shaft - I figured a straight swap with a new replacement was going to be less messy and easier in the long run - wrong. What a messy job! The CVJ is not that old so I was going to put aside and...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I have 2 buddlieias - a globes which I really like - it struggles a bit with its very dry corner of the garden, and a butterfly tree. Later in the summer it is 'alive' with monarchs and red/brown admirals ...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Finished cleaning and treating the leather - fitted the seats and wired up the heated seats [man that large back seat is a heavy job to lug around! ]- it was a good opportunity to give the inside a thorough clean! Also fitted a lit passenger sun visor. The cloth seats are still in very good...

Freelander 1 K series camshafts question

Just asking and please excuse my ignorance, but how did that motor run prior to the head job? If it was a good runner then it's unlikely to be a incorrect cam issue but possibly a cam timing prob'. Wouldn't it be easier to go through the process of 'fitting a new cam belt'? ie: leave current...

what have you done to your freelander today

Over the weekend I fitted me replacement leather seats. While they were out on my bench I gave them a clean and leather treatment. I used Chemical Guys cleaner and leather conditioner. I didn't rate the cleaner very highly rubbing it on via a micro fibre cloth and gently scrubbing some spots...

Freelander 1 Anyone fitted different seats?

I'm in the process of swapping my st'd seats out from my '98 K series to leather - heated front seats!

    Freelander 1 Heated seats

Are those heated seat modules the relays you refer to?

    Freelander 1 Heated seats

OK - I arranged to buy the leather seats about £100 + some extra for the heated seat switches the luggage area lamp. My FL1 is a '98 model so heated seats weren't on offer for it. Now some questions: Do these seats have different levels of heating [eg: 1,2 or 3]]. Are the wiring schematics...

    Freelander 1 Heated seats

Ok. I’ll have a gander at the wiring schematic to see if my loom has connections behind the centre consol. I’ve already fitted the armrest box from a later model so I could fit those heated seat switches there - I already moved the window switches there and the upper two could be for the seats...

    Freelander 1 Heated seats

Can someone knowledgeable tell me if early FL1 are wired for heated seats? I’ve found an ‘03 V6 being parted out. It’s has very nice leather seats and heated too. Maybe they would be an easy fit in my 1998 FL1?😊

Rear Washer Relay. Where is it?????

No pump sound? check fuse #1 Mine is NBG too but I have pump sound so I suspect a blockage some place in the pipeline. Possibly the non-return valve - where-ever that is.

    Freelander 1 Heated seats

Thanks GG. I eventually worked out where they were originally placed. Yes, I've added a centre arm rest/cubby a few years ago and I moved the window switches to the lower two switches on it. I'm thinking of moving the rear window and central locking switches to the upper positions and using...

    Freelander 1 Heated seats

I've purchased a heated seat kit and plan to fit it to my FL1. Heated seats were an option on the higher spec models. Where exactly were the electrical switches located for the seats and is their a wiring loom connection under the front seats?

Totally agree with that - even with my tweeks to the head & inlet... when towing my wee trailer it can still be a 3rd gear chug up steep hills - sigh

Freelander 1 Slight Radiator Coolant Leak

Tricky - What engine is it? If it's the K series 1.8 then no-one would recommend using a sealing compound like 'K seal... Rad weld...' It looks like the coolant is tracking along that crimped edge on the plastic side tank - is that correct? You could remove the radiator and pop into a radiator...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Visited an auto wrecker today [ scrappy], as they'd advertised a Freelander 1 ready for dismantling. Actually they had two! I managed to get a pair of door mirrors, a driver's rubber floor mat which is much better that mine, the rubber 'ties' which hold the jack in place, a engine oil dipstick...

    Tyre noise or more sinister!?

Hmm you're responding to a thread from 2012. Yes, on the Freelander 1 new tyres are supposed to go on the rear axle. All four tyres should be the same size, brand and inflation. A tyre pressure monitoring system is a good idea and I've fitted one to my 1998 FL1. There is lots of info' on here...
