I did my mates TD4 6 weeks ago, first 3 were very tight. Fourth sheared off, so we left it as is. Starts fine on 3. I bought a spare full engine and all four came out dead easy. I need to do mine as it starts and runs like bag of spanners, fair bit of unburnt diesel smoke for a couple of...
My rear window made a horrible noise whe it went down the other day.
Can anyone reccomend a repair kit that they know works, I have read the cheap ones dont fit very well.
Your friends husband may not have worked on a Freelander before, so I will share some info that might help. If he has then you can ignore this post.
The propshafts and VCU removal is straight forward and is only 14 bolts to remove. You remove the assembly of the VCU and the two props, dont try...
Yup piston seized in the cylinder. They can be a swine to replace, remove the wheel and have a look how far the bleed screw is into the backplate and the condition of the bolts. If you can undo the bolts then great but my guess is you will not be able to.
I had to rotate the backplate to grind...
I fitted a new radio Saturday, many off my little noises have disappeared.
still have an annoying vibration/ noise at about 1200 to 1500 rpm, not sure if its exhaust internals or something loose at the back of the engine.
any ideas??????
Done the drop links, no more knocks.
Wanted to fit the dog guard and found the rear carpet wet. So carpet now out and drying.
The floor has started to rust so carpet not going back in until rust removed and and painted with POR 15 paint
Fitted a new radio that will bluetooth to my phone and will play radio from my phone cause the aerial is still pants. need to replace the coax when I can be bothered.
Tomorrow it anti roll bar drop links.
Just read the whole thread, you need a medal mate.
Not far back you mentioned the tightening or braking on full lock. Have you done the wheel up VCU check?
Can you take pictures of where the oil leak is coming from??
I did the HG on our MG TF, same engine as your freelender and I am struggling...
mine just stared doing similar, but I think it Anti roll bar drop links. At £15.50 for the pair, they are getting changed, and if its not that, they would have needed changing soon anyway because they only last 2-3 years anyway.
Mine is heavy too, tried a friend hippo and his was not as heavy but still not exactly light. My guess is its the slave cylinder and not the clutch. I am not even going to try stripping it till Summer comes.
