Has anyone one this mod to a facelift TD4 AUTO using the machined inline housing from specialist components?

If so where did you put it, what diameter were the pipes and what stat temperature did you use?

It looks like the top hose divides into several branches - not clear wherer if anywhere the thing would fit?

I have just bought this finely made in-line (remote) thermostat for my 2001 TD4 Auto

Like you, I am a tad confused where to install it.

Here looking down into the engine bay, this top hose to the left looks a candidate?

A close look...

Here is the thermostat, but it's a very tight fit, the dipstick is in the way a bit, and it looks like the thermostat housing flange might rub on the radiator fan blades?

This is more or less where I am proposing to cut..

Comments chaps? This where I install it?

I'd think fitting it into the top hose at that point will make changing the oil filter a challenge.

the hose or the inline thermo ?, the thermostat you can have in varying outlet/inlet sizes
I think the pre made £58 Rover 75 one has different sized inlet and outlet, seem to recall someone on here fitting one
The spec yourself one from the same company is £65.

Thats the hose you use to do the Renault mod that I did on Sunday, cost £3.99. Sounds a costly way to achieve the same goal.

It was one they make for Universal fit, it has the same inlet and outlet sizes. They have a TD4 specific ad now on the bay.

I hardly lost any coolant, and if it is in the way, it will be easy to fit a bit of joining hose to replace the thermo when I need to send it in for Oil & Filter. 5 minutes a year I can deal with.

Been very worthwhile, the cabin fan now gets as hot as it did when the Webasto Aux Heater unit worked. By no means is it as hot as some modern cars get, but I call it 'toasty' whereas before it was lukewarm and miserable. The whole family feels it and are delighted.

I fitted this the same week I cured the damp tailgate toolbox leak. A dry warm, nice smelling car at last...

Pictures coming.
