    HEVAC erratic

I know, but they're either new=expensive or used=not-guaranteed-to-work-for-any-length-of-time. This is the only place I've found that do an exchange service for a reconditioned unit with warranty. I was hoping there might be a similar service on offer closer to home. Regards Henrik

    HEVAC erratic

Hi all, Surfing for a cure, I stubled upon this: 95 96 97 98 Range Rover P38 A C Heater Climate AC Temperature Control Exchange | eBay This seems to be the solution to my woes, but they're in the US. Clearly, there should be someone in the UK offering the same sort of service? How about Rovacom...

    Intermittent A/C

Hi, What does your external temperature reading do when this happens? Does it stay in sensible range, or does it drop to arctic levels or disappear altogether? I have something of the sort going on and I've been told it's a firmware issue in the HEVAC control unit, which apparently can only be...

    Non starter

OK. I understand that you have successfully started the car by means of a jumper to the starter solenoid? It that's the case, you clearly have an issue with the feed to the solenoid. First place to look is the spade connector on the solenoid. The cable can get badly corroded and break off inside...

    Gearbox issue

Hi, Mine does the same thing occationally. To me, it doesn't seem to be connected with the parking break in any way, but rather with the gearbox being reluctant to engage drive if the cogs are loaded up from being parked on a gradient. In fact, it's more likely to happen if I forget to engage...

    HEVAC erratic

Hi John, Thanks. My car is earlier in the range, with VIN VA369447. But I suppose it's still reasonable to suspect the control unit. I'll look around. Henrik

    HEVAC erratic

Hi all, My HEVAC has been misbehaving for ages, but now it's bugging me more than usual, because of consistently hot weather (unusual in this neck of the woods). Car is a '97 4.6 HSE. I've just had the AC regassed after replacement of a leaky section of tubing, so now I finally have cold air...

Overheat - Am I missing something

I don't know about the diesel, but at least for the petrol, the gauge should never go beyond the 12-o'clock no matter the load. The only movement you should see from the gauge is when it's warming up from cold, and it will also drop quite a bit if you roll down a long hill with your foot off the...

    Suspension bushes

Hah! Sorry I'm such a dimwit, but someone solved the riddle - it's the new britpart poly bush set. They claim they have been made to the same degree of softness as rubber, so as not to ruin the ride, but then they have been known to make a few ambitious claims in the past... It's already on...

Hi all, Are these any good, or will they ruin the ride quality? Cheers! Henrik

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

Pin hole in HP pipe. Pressure must have dropped further overnight as well, because today the compressor failed to engage. Thank you all, at least now I know what I need to replace. Henrik

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

Thanks, The condenser is brand new, so I suspect it's probably a pipe or a valve if indeed there is low pressure. Off to get it tested now. Should the fans on the condenser run at all times, or will they switch on thermostatically? Henrik

    Anyone know Mike Russell, Anglesey?

Yup, old thread but very useful info. I tried contacting n.w.r.r.s. to get in touch with Mike, who still owes me several hundred pounds, but they denied any and all affiliation with the man. However, I'm sure the poster here has good reason to claim that this seller is indeed the same man who...

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

Ok, so you're saying that one of the pipes should get properly cold? It certainly doesn't so that would put the fault somewhere in the refrigeration system. I will take it back to the garage that did the refill. They should have done a proper leak test, and if the system is down to a...

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

I'm not saying you're wrong, but someone else said that a lack of gas will throw a pressure switch, which in turn would keep the pump from engaging.? As the pump is clearly running, I take that as a strong indication that there is at least enough gas that the system is operating, thus I should...

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

Hi, Ok, so I performed the checks above. Pump is definitely engaging, as I can hear it kicking in and the pumping noise it makes while it's running (I had a friend operate the AC switch while I listened at the front). On the pump, the smaller of the two pipes will heat up in seconds while the...

    HEVAC trouble, no AC

I thought about that, but there's a definite change in the noise the system makes if I hit the AC off button, so there must be something going on. If the pump wasn't running I don't suppose there would be a difference in the noise? Blend motors have never been replaced so it wouldn't surprise me...
