    Newer disco or freelander?

Freelander might have Land Rover badges all over it BUT it shows how much faith LR had in it on the last Camel Trophy event by them, having each FL assigned a 110 to follow them for the event

    Lift/ lower def 90

the rear anti roll bar cuts out most of the body roll,if you fit a front one aswell they tend to understeer more - that is how my 110 is set up and it works very well
  3. B

    Lift/ lower def 90

90 front springs and disco rear springs (std) works well aslong as you are not putting to much in the back
  4. B

    Lift/ lower def 90

nothing wrong with std height - how Land Rover intended it to be after all, fit rear anti roll bar makes a huge differance to the handling

    Wheel bearing play.

I never re-use and wonder why i get through so many per month!!
  6. B

    Wheel bearing play.

have seen some Britpart ones go quicker than that down here - not fitted by me - Timken only for me, as far as adjustment goes they have been re adjusted by an Indy so they would have made sure that locknuts / tab washers would have been good to use. How did you pack the bearings with grease...

    Wheel bearing play.

what make of bearing where they? cos it sounds like the inner races are wearing

    stopped by the police

Do not get me wrong Portugal is great, you just have to be aware of the different laws and the way they enforce them - local Police are always in the cafes and on any laning days (driving with you) its the GNR that are the bastids!!
  9. B

    stopped by the police

plus you do not argue as they all carry 9mm's as there side arm and there policy is shoot first ask questions later
  10. B

    stopped by the police

bit different over here, have to have all your paperwork / licence with you at all times if not an on the spot fine of 250€ for each bit missing, I got stopped on Friday afternoon in a routine roadside pull in. All paperwork ok, safety jacket checked for the correct "E" mark and also...

What did you get for christmas?

I have one of each - both good just that its always the hi lift that i reach for when needed - bit like the differance between snap on and blue point tools
  12. B

    pistons

piston will only be removed through the top not bottom of the bore. Last 1 i did the rod was that well bent I had to cut off the lower part of the con rod to extract it out of the bore
  13. B

    what's happening?!

think the newbies of now get off lightly compared to the days of - yella , slob , grippa , mondo etc
  14. B

rolled disco, wont run part 2

means that your cam belt has jumped on its teeth, rip the front off and replace, but also remove all the pushrods and check for straightness - they normally bend 4 at a time
  15. B

    pistons

bent con rod - have done a few myself, caused by water in the bore
  16. B

    Discovery 2 rear suspension

if you look at the spring rates you will see that lifted springs have a similair rating to std springs so they will not give you any advantage with load carrying, best go for the heavy duty springs as they have been designed for just what you are looking for.
  17. B

    RR axels.

won't fit - diffs are on the wrong side for your transfer box/propshafts to line up
  18. B

disco 300tdi, rolled it and now wont run

engine has run on its own oil - hence the high revving, it might have jumped a tooth on the cam belt as it would have revved beyond the set max on the injection pump, take rocker cover off and check for bent pushrods and broken rocker arms as an easy check for belt related damage

    Loss of traction, skidding...

correct on your assumption, done through ABS system locking the wheel that has lost traction so it fools the diff into sending poweer to the stationary wheel, all Land Rovers have the system fitted - called left foot braking to create the same effect as you have with traction control
