Where do I find the engine number on my Disco 2? I'm fairly certain the bonnet has been off prior to my ownership and I just want to see if the numbers match.
Yes, but is the gap still the same when the car's on the ground? Depending what position the front of the car relative to the rear axle was when you fitted it will give varying degrees of gaps.
I am having to change the captive nut for the engine cover on the right hand side of the engine but can't remember which way round it goes. Is it with the nut towards the engine (logical) or the other way round. Had the cover strapped on with a cable tie for the last 12 months. D2
Are you sure you're not expecting too much height increase. The car only rises about 20-25mm when started and about the same on the manual button. Very hard to detect from the drivers seat.
It would be advisable in this instance to buy the complete hub as you don't know what caused the damage in the first place.
I daresay you can pull the whole mainshaft thro the seal but I'd be inclined to buy a new seal afterwards.
They certainly look like synchro rings. The block pieces are what the unit slides on to lock the individual gears in position. Not sure which set screw you're trying to undo.
I think dippypud may be referring to the occasional seats on a 7 seater.
The pull strap, as you say, is on the back of the bottom cushion. This should be pulled up and slightly away from the cushion.
I'm curious as to why the timing chain snapped in the first place. It shouldn't have done. Something in the engine drive chain must have locked up to cause this. Have you investigated?
Possible water pump leak if you've not had a new one. Not always easy to see as water drips onto the s..t plate underneath and not onto the road. Look down the side of the top hose with a torch.
