Have recently re-installed AVG free on my laptop and found it slowed up my computer considerably. Changed to Avast and everything was ok for a while until Avast started plugging me with upgrade offers which I declined. Now Avast is as slow as it was before. Seems like a deliberate ploy to me...

Check that the hubs aren't leaking grease onto the brake pads. That was the issue with mine.

My rear mudflap bracket needs replacing. Anybody any ideas on how to get the two screws out that fixes to the outside of the wing? They are both badly corroded. I take it they are screwed into the plastic trim piece?

Just an addition to the above. The FPR on the 10p engine was modified. Fits the same.

Are you saying it did affect it?

I bow to Sierra Ferry's extensive knowledge but this was definitely the problem in my case. I now make sure the rear door is fully unlocked.

Had a similar problem on my D2. Turns out the rear door lock wasn't opening fully confusing the BCU.

Spray WD40 or similar in the back of the alternator to clear. Worked for me.

I know the BCU doesn't directly affect the central locking ,(although it does control the indicators and wipers) but does it not network other control units on the car? Incidentally I've been thro the possible moisture theory in the BCU and found no issues.

Noticed when I got home the other day, that the indicator arrows were flashing on the dashboard but the flasher unit wasn't clicking. Tried the wipers and found the intermittent wasn't working. Thought the BCU was failing but on checking the doors found that the tailgate hadn't unlocked. Seems...

Which o ring? Most likely the pump is shot.

Leaking pump sometimes difficult to see. If you shine a torch down the side of the top hose onto the muck plate at the bottom you will see a wet area if it's leaking.

Spray some WD40 or similar thro the back of the alternator. Usually does the trick.

Leaking water pump perhaps.

Did the garage take the compressor off to change the piston ring or did they do it in situ. If they did it in situ it's not easy to line up the notches in the ring.
