Hey guys,

This is my first post as I've just picked up my first landrover!

I'm wondering what's going on with the rpm gauge when sitting idle.

It's a 2.5 TD automatic 1999

Any ideas?
Cheers

Welcome to the Zone @Chris0000100 ,congratulations on purchase of your first Landy. On the back of your Landys alternator among other wires is a skinny white wire that supplies feed to the tachometer, the spade coupler on the end of the wire fries in the exhaust manifold heat, try removing the wire/spade from back of the alt close or squeeze the female spade with pliers to improve its contact with the male part on the alternator.
Sometimes you will find the wire loose in the spade, you will need to "crimp" a new one onto the end of the wire.
