    7 seater convert to commercial

The question that's going through my mind is, why would you bother? The 6th & 7th seats fold away quite neatly so there's little space to be gained there and the middle row seats all fold forward. You could take them out but you won't win much space. However, if you ever go into Central London...

    Seized transfer box

Hi IC, in a manual gearbox car, with the engine running and at standstill, dip the clutch and with a firm but gentle manner move the tranny box lever forward, through neutral and into low. If you encounter difficulty, select first gear with the main 'box before trying to select low. If...

    Rare buy

What a load of pretensious crâp !!! Just visited the Overfinch site and had a look at what they do. £189,000 for a 2nd hand posh Range Rover with tasteless red interior - you can keep it as far as I'm concerned. When Overfinch was making a name for itself in the 90's they did things -...

    Flat spot/hesitant/mis-fire

Do the following: 1. Renew the air filter; 2. Clean the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor with aerosol Brake and Clutch cleaner. Now test drive, first with the MAF connected, then with it disconnected; then report back. Dave

    Greg's TD5 DII project

Dead simple. It's either : 1. the wiring from the MAF plug to the ECU - easy to check with a continuity test on a multi-meter, or 2. MAF is foobar'd and needs replacing. Peeps will tell you to only buy a Siemenns/Land Rover one but I've used cheapies from Ebay on several of my TD5's and...

    Intermittent SRS warning light issue?

Hey Fery, I was trying to pay you a complement - chill man. I had a problem, I followed your advice and it worked; so all I was trying to do was to share my experience with others - it MIGHT JUST help them.

my td5 main radiator hot one side cold down the other

Sounds like a blocked rad to me, take it out and renew. http://www.paddockspares.com/pcc001070-radiator-assembly-td5.html

    Intermittent SRS warning light issue?

Hi Toby, I had a very similar problem on my TD5 to yours and it was cured by cleaning the inter-connecting plugs under the passenger seat with switch cleaner. The problem has not come back, up to now at least :o:bowl::rolleyes: Recognition should go to Sierrafery for his guidance and...

    Exhaust bolts

They are not bolts, they are threaded rivets that are installed whilst red hot. When I've works on rotten versions, I angle grind them off then re-drills the flanges to use standard nut and bolts.

    Power Steering Pump

OK mate but just for your info, the one I bought from Paddocks was made by Hobourn (from memory) which is the same as the one on the car that broke down.

    Can't get sedimenter off

Well thanks for that Kev. The way I'm looking at this is: even if any water was able to past the cambelt cover seals (and I doubt it myself) where is the problem? All you do is remove the wading plug and if there's any kind of fluid in there, it's just drain out?? Unlike gearboxes and diffs...

    Power Steering Pump

I bought one of these from Paddocks. It fitted perfectly and bled the air out easily and quickly and no more problems from the steering. A1 as far as I'm concerned. Dave

    Can't get sedimenter off

Just as a matter of interest, why would you want one? There is a wading plug in the bottom of the cover, which should only be plugged when you're wading and there's no oil in the timing chest to expand and contract, like there is in diffs and gearboxes. Dave

    Rubber Prop Shaft Doughnut......DEAD!!!

You only need to undo the back-end of the prop, that connects via the doughnut to the rear diff. Undo the nuts/bolts that attach to the diff, then push in the prop end to make it slide/telescope and shorten the overall length - it makes it easier to remove. Dave

    buying a disco 3

Having driven Disco 1, 2, and then 3, my opinion is that the Disco 3 in diesel v6 form is far and away the best, on or off-road. It's a complex vehicle, like all modern 4x4's but when looked after properly they are as reliable as the competition if not better. The big problem about maintaining...

    Td5 mpg

Really to get a truly accurate reading of fuel consumed, you need to fill the tank until you see the fuel level, then do lots of miles, then re-fill to the same level. To replace the TC you are right - you need to remove the autobox as the TC is within the bellhousing.

    Td5 mpg

You know a full tank is actually 95 ltrs, but I'm assuming you mean you did the calculation based on brim-to-brim? For the MAP I normally use Brake & Clutch aerosol cleaner from Tool Station, at £2.50 per 400ml can. Leaves no residue and is sufficiently cheap that you can use it to clean just...
