He said the hole was in the top and if that's the hole then something looks like it's punched from inside which will probably mean a new diff required and then the axle welded or replaced.

That's the trouble when people think, oh I fancy a bit of fun green laning, I'll buy a td5 then realise there mistake when the front bumper gets smashed. lol Probably what keeps the prices so high.

Isn't the purging, where you put ignition on and pump throttle 6 times and wait till management light stops flashing, getting the air out?

I peeled the one off my rear door as it was pretty much falling off. Tempted to remove the rest and clean it up so it all looks the same without the chrome. Not as nice without but may look a bit smarter.

Sounds like lack of maintenance means the fluids leaked out before you brought it.

I have the same problem. Searched around, brought some chrome strip to try buy it was thicker on a gel like base and did not look right, it needs to be a flat chrome strip. If you have any luck let me know as it does make the truck look scruffy.

I've heard the re manufacturered heads are not as good as the origionals. If you buy a used one on the cheap make sure it gets at least a skim. It's a shame your in France as I've got one on eBay that's been stripped, skimmed and tested, decoked, had new valve seals and springs and I've reseated...

My mate has one but it may need a little welding, he was going to fix it and galv it ready to swap onto his td5 but that's now sold. I've asked him if he is wanting to sell it and he may come on here with details later. Where are you and are you still needing one?

Same here mark. My drivers door button rattles when engine is cold as does a few other things under the steering wheel. Keep meaning to take door card off as I'm sure it's missing the bit of plastic sheet that would hold the bar tight and stop it rattling.

Job best done with the belt on 300tdi opposite thread but TD5 is normal thread I believe. If the belt is off it makes the job 100x. More difficult.

I will do. I already replaced the main hose at the top and it split near the hose clip before Christmas. I've cut it short for now and it seems to be holding but will look to see if a silicon set is available for the TD5

I've got the same issue. For the last month or so the level was dropping quickly with no sign of where it was going. Found one of the factory clips must have weakened as when the pipe was touched water flowed out so it was changed to a jubilee clip. It's still loosing but just slower a bit...

Cheers. Mine is a bit more complex. I think the XYZ switch on the gearbox is not giving out the signal for reverse lights and the PDC needs this signal to work. Thought you might have done something else I might try but the plugs and wires are all ok. Cheers.

How did you fix the PDC?

I've had my 18" alloys refurbed. About £50 a wheel. Like new so no worrys about leaks.

Well I have some news. It possible it was a stupid error by me. After the service I refilled with coolant and it did not seem to take as much as I thought it should, but filled it properly with tank raised and bleed nipple open, then let engine run while bleed nipple open watching till air...

Don't sound good then. It getting a full service tomorrow and antifreeze going in. Will give that dye a try and report back.
