Afternoon all,

As per my last post I've got my landy off to a garage and confirmed the cylinder head is warped beyond repair. il be changing the head soon, Ive just got a few questions to people with experience of carrying this out.
1.what head should i get? aftermarket, oem? if aftermarket which one?
2. paddock spares are offering a 'new style' what is that and do i need it?
3. is there any odd thing i could have missed through guides and the workshop manual that could break on me whilst doing it delaying my repair? (3 day delivery minimum to france)
4. what else is worth changing while I'm at it?

Cheers all.

any 300 tdi head plus composite gasket and new head bolts, new revised head isnt necessary ,checking rads hot all over and thermostat functions 100% is worth checking

I've heard the re manufacturered heads are not as good as the origionals.
If you buy a used one on the cheap make sure it gets at least a skim.
It's a shame your in France as I've got one on eBay that's been stripped, skimmed and tested, decoked, had new valve seals and springs and I've reseated the valves.
It's at least £100 cheaper than any equivalent on eBay at £250.
Amazing how many folks on the Facebook groups think that's a rip off and are more than happy to fit a £100 head straight off another engine. Lol

Depending who you use to ship it, it wont cost that much to ship.
I sent two pallets to Estonia before Christmas, total weight 300 KG,s
Cost £350 including VAT. Took about a week to get here.

Not a fan of the MLMS "Victor Reinze gaskets JM?, highly recommended here for 300Tdi head replacements particularly with pre-used/reco'd heads.
mls steel head gaskets arent as good as std composite on 300 in my experience , a too overheated head will bend again whatever gasket is used but a composite has some give ,so whether new or used head mls wont help that ,it is much better with wet liners though

Hi. Did you manage to replace the head? Any problems or difficulties ? I'm just considering it and looking at eBay original replacements .
Hope it all went well
