I personally wouldn't bother. I doubt they would make any difference to a thief, amateur or determined pro. Buy a disc lock or put the money towards a tracker. I suppose in connection with other measures anti burst locks may add an extra 'something' but I'm really not convinced.

That long thin spring type thing seemed to come loose on mine and fell out of the duct hole. I have managed to 'manually adjust' mine so that the flaps are half open so air is roughly 50/50 to the screen / footwell ducts. Not found the motivation or need to drop the dash and properly repair yet...

They contacted me after 3 weeks to say one would be ready in a week's time. That slipped just a week as the gearbox on their van...

I totally see where you're coming from. I made a similar purchase. The bulkhead was much worse than yours though! I don't weld and had to spend a lot of money buying a galvanised refurbished one, together with a galv front panel too. Land Rover projects are so varied in terms of desired outcome...

New footwells can be bought all correct shape and size and a good welder should be able to waive his hot spanner at them.

Looks fine. Might need an engine crane to lift it in though. :)

There are also two holes you can use on the pedal bracket. Depending on your brake pedal travel, you can choose as to which hole to screw the switch in to.

Most of the replacement switches are absolutely junk, I tried about three. Even new Lucas ones are near useless. I searched the net and eventually found a new 'old stock' style Lucas switch. It is more forgiving to adjust and lasts more than 3 days.

I have found that more goes wrong by not driving it than driving it. Brake slave cylinders were a favourite for corroding and leaking through lack of use. For past three years I make a point of trying to use it once a week if only for 3-4 miles. The longest I leave it without use is 2 weeks...

I bought the biggest I could for my 2.25 diesel. A Bosch Silver HSB019. Just fits.
