Who's got the oldest running 90/110?

Damn! had thought I'd won with my A reg! but mine is definitely [mostly] on the road...................

Who's got the oldest running 90/110?

What year is yours? TBH I think oldest original is asking a bit much, most oldies must have been altered a bit by now, so just oldest 110 or 90 running and in use...............................

Who's got the oldest running 90/110?

I always thought "Jeep" was a regional generic term for any 4x4, mostly up north............... I've heard it used for shoguns and the like. A bit like "Wagon" for lorries or trucks. Seldom hear either down here, I'm probably wrong though...........

Who's got the oldest running 90/110?

Is that one of the many mythical S1's that are tucked away at the end of every Norfolk lane?!

Who's got the oldest running 90/110?

We could have sub classes [original, converted, etc.etc.] but we're not getting many of any type so far.

Welcome firstly. I agree, it's doubtful it's that heavy. If it is what are your plans for it? If camper conversion then once done and registered as a motorcaravan the weight ought not to matter. I'm not 100% up on this as I'm old so can drive upto 7.5 tonne on my granddad license. Good luck.

Who's got the oldest running 90/110?

Big welcome to new member @Superbad with his elderly 90 [1984 I think] plus a small post today with a couple of older 110's and I couldn't help wondering who has the oldest running 110 or 90...................

    I'm new here

99.9% certain it'll be wiring or a bad earth if your light is working - of course a working light and a can in the back will be good enough.......................... to be honest if a dodgy fuel gauge is your biggest problem you're doing well! Good luck

    I'm new here

Clean all contacts and fuses [including springy fuse holders] probably sort it. Welcome btw, nice to see another oldie onsite - so many are new, shiney Defenders - we're rare.........................

    Another year older

I think mine's 33 yr old - and a heap............... love/hate it in equal parts,

    Thoughts on this old V8?

Definitely worth a look - WAY WAY nicer than mine!

    Worcestershire lad...

How is Worcestershire? [you have to be a certain age to get that] Welcome by the way

    Defender 110 ride quality.

Try the bags of sand! But TBH if you don't know it's history, invest in new standard rear springs, shocks and bushes - then go from there...............
  17. waldamar

    Defender 110 ride quality.

Try chucking a couple of sacks of sand in the back, that'll add 50kg - see if it makes a difference , if not chuck in a couple more - if it barely drops at the rear and still bouncy then you're probably on h/duty springs - good luck
  18. waldamar

    Defender 110 ride quality.

It is harsh by design. Do you know it's history? It may have had heavy duty springs fitted, especially if someone set it up for towing [hence higher at rear] You could treat it to a new set of standard springs and shocks, thus returning it to original but it'd only be a bit less...

    Wandering & leaky pas box - co-incidence?

Alas leaking and wandering unlikely to be connected - so you've got two problems...................., check every track rod end and your balls! good luck

A recent Land Rover series convert

Tappets are easy to check/set and very satisfying - I trust you've got a manual? [Haynes book of lies will do for starters] Check that the choke is actually fully open when pushed fully home - if not adjust - above all have fun. Pictures!
