I'm looking to get a Land Rover 130 Ambulance, which have a weight of just over 3.5 ton I believe. Would it be possible for me to, once purchased, strip out all the ambulance fittings and excess weight and then downplate the vehicle to avoid having to get a C1 license. Or are there any other ways of avoiding this?
Cheers

Hi Harry, don't take this the wrong way - you will get a quicker response if you pop over to the 'introduce yourself' section first and tell everybody how 'you've loved land rovers all your life' and are 'looking to buy one at last' and basically, er, introduce yourself. The locals here often don't like it when new faces come to town and start firing away questions without saying hello:p.

Moving on, I seriously don't believe the 127/130 will have a gross weight of more than 3.5 ton. I think that you may have been mis-informed.

Cheers much appreciated
Welcome firstly.
I agree, it's doubtful it's that heavy. If it is what are your plans for it? If camper conversion then once done and registered as a motorcaravan the weight ought not to matter. I'm not 100% up on this as I'm old so can drive upto 7.5 tonne on my granddad license. Good luck.
