    Series 3 mot fail

i'll give the rtv a go today or tomorrow, if it Disney work it'll be getting the straight edge and emery paper treatment. might see if Guy Salmon in Kingston has a genuine lr gasket in stock that I can see before I buy although I am sure they would laugh if I phoned up for series parts. think I...

didn't see the prog but that would have annoyed me

    Series 3 mot fail

the other thing that strikes me is poor design, those big holes for the two bolts that go up into the block mean that at 2 points there is barely a few mm at the back to make a good seal.

    Series 3 mot fail

got the sump off again, looks like the sump to block contact is rubbish at the back, gasket is stuck to the block but oil has seeped under the gasket all round the back on the sump side. if they still made the rubber ones they would most likely be the ticket

    Repairing Bonnet

plenty of cheap used bonnets without mounts on ebay, wouldn't that be easier?

    Series 3 mot fail

I remember you doing that sump :D my gasket was paper thin as was the old one, I see lr parts shop have some genuine lr ones for £18 but you can't tell if they are any better there is no photo...

    Series 3 mot fail

yes I used hylomar blue I shall have another look tomorrow seemed to be bubbling out, when I took the old gasket out there was oil over and under it at the back

    Series 3 mot fail

would two gaskets help seal the leak?
  11. H

    Series 3 mot fail

well its all back together, still a bit of oil oozing out from the back of the sump - not as bad as before so I an guessing there is an imperfection there

craddocks :D the longer one looks right, luckily I only need one, ordered 2 as I had to pay the min post charge anyway, I just don't have a spare, I'm sure I will use the other on something and they were only a few pennies.

    Series 3 mot fail

well the gasket arrived nicely scrunched up to fit in a box, and I kid ye not, this is a photo of the two "identical" water pump bolts I ordered, you couldn't make this up :D wonder which one I would have got if I had ordered a single bolt

    Series 3 mot fail

got a bit closer, connected all the electrics back up and they work :D large scotch in order, routed them over the top of the front panel in some conduit, so if I have to take it off again all I need to undo is one earth and the horn wires. apparently the courier tried to deliver the sump...

    Series 2 wipers - size?

it is :D by the time I realised I couldn't be bothered to change it, but I do prefer them both swinging the same way
  17. H

    Series 2 wipers - size?

mine would be the same if I positioned them as they are in your pic, they don't swing down there in normal operation
  18. H

    Series 2 wipers - size?

haven't got a better pic and its raining, this is how the wipers should be defender style or proper series they both point to the centre - not trying to teach you to suck eggs - and you may find your new ones fit
  19. H

    Series 2 wipers - size?

you position them on the splines in the right place if that's what you mean? I got new splines too for around a tenner iirc
