I have a series 3 with the military-style bonnet mount for the spare wheel. I want to put the wheel onto the roof rack and remove the mount. I know nothing of the dark art that is body repairing so can someone please tell me when I remove the mount and drill out the rivets etc (I think it is rivets but cannot remember as it has been on there for so long) will it be possible to get someone to repair and paint over the holes. Obviously filler alone won't do it as the metal is too thin. Can you weld Durabright to seal the holes? Any other suggestions for masking such as capped rivets? Help please.
Great 4x4 spares day at Newbury on Sunday.....so many stands.....only bought a lawn mower!!
Thanks, John.

Depends on your required finish. As I dont care what it looks like under the bonnet when I filled the old water jet holes I simply took a blob of body filler and glued a penny washer on from the underside.
Fixed slightly off center it was more than enough to apply filler to the outside and smooth to a fine finish for painting.

As for painting.......................... its full of bleedin rivets so a right faff so rub down round them all. :D
