    Disco 2 Steering Box woes...

I too would recommend WPS, and that's after the first box they sent started to leak from the bottom seal after six months. I contacted them straight away and no quibbles, they replaced it by return. Their warranty is solid!!

Disco 2 Is my maths correct

Following a visit from Mike my manual D2 Td5 went from averaging 27.8 to 30.5mpg...and the driving satisfaction went up considerably more than that. Just the reduced need to dance up and down the gears makes it worthwhile so the extra mpg is pure icing.

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Chuffed to bits. Replaced my power-steering pump + hoses and pipes, so with the recon s-box I had fitted last year, that's all the steering effectively good as new, all looking lovely...and NO leaks!! The added unexpected bonus was that on reversing out of the bay the sound that I had been...

How to remove all old coolant

You and me both. Still what else would I be doing tomorrow if I wasn't fitting a new PS pump, pipes and coolant hoses. They keep you honest [and broke]

How to remove all old coolant

Should have done this first. They look for all the world to me like 3/4" Dowty washers. £7.95 for 10 on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BSP-Dowty-Hydraulic-Washer-Washer-Bonded-Seal-BSP-Self-Centering/192387511489?hash=item2ccb3074c1:m:mE5kcIXchr8VMWm0cnvKJvw

How to remove all old coolant

Just bought one for £3 from Ribblesdale LR main dealer. Ebay is not always your friend...notwithstanding I still blanched at the price. Is there no sensible alternative washer?

Ace removal and conversion help please.....

Here's one of the kits https://www.island-4x4.co.uk/ace-removal-kit-d2-td5-p-19751.html I've seen another that also has the new reservoir too but now can't find it. TBH I've left my old reservoir in situ but **andy85** are you suggesting that a new larger one is needed for some reason, or are...

Disco 2 Power Steering pumps and pipes - and a grumble

Thanks both Ians IanCorky...yeah, I've had my head under the bonnet for 20mins this morning mapping out what I'm going to do, and looks like it'll be my first rad removal o_O TBH, and going back to what Nige said...I can't help but feel excited about the whole project now! I got the twin pipe...

Disco 2 Power Steering pumps and pipes - and a grumble

    1) Okay, I've finally lost patience with my local garage. Been using them for 4 years now, but increasingly there has been a lack of attention to detail (e.g. steering wheel coming back badly off-centre after new steering box fitted). This has now got to the point where I took the Disco down to...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Started to jack the new o/s tree slider into place for fitting when I suddenly realised the front wasn't raising. Quick look underneath and I see the slider vertical is rammed up into the holding bracket for a sensor...which I have no idea what it is? So (without a pic), it's a sensor, plugged...

Disco 2 Gearing myself up for the decision

Well, after a weekend of bimbling the roads between Kendal and Skipton I can confirm...there is nothing bloody wrong with my gearbox! However, by conciously judging every [b****y] gearchange I'm left thinking that you're probably right James, a slight 1-2mm nudge of the bias plate to the right...

Disco 2 Gearing myself up for the decision

Thanks James but, sorry, I forgot to say. I replaced the fractured bias plate with a slickshift a month ago (yes, more money than sense perhaps...but it really does make a difference to that 'snickiness')...but the change has stayed erratic. When I say stirring, it's only stirring within the...

Disco 2 Gearing myself up for the decision

Right, I'm fed up with my gearbox. It's lovely and 'snicky' one minute, then the next all the gears are blocked and I find myself free-wheeling down the road with pressure building in my head as I stir the lever thinking out loud and through a forced grin to the wife "It's in there somewhere"...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

What did I do today? Made myself feel an arse for not knowing about a certain foible of my wife's Freelander [thanks again Nodge68]...Oh, but over the weekend, I took a can of matt black to the very tired looking silver-metallic painted radiator grille on my D2 and took another step toward...

Freelander 1 Water drip into engine bay

Hi All My wife's '05 F1 has developed a water drip which emanates from a flexible pipe which emerges out of the soundproofing in the r/n/s of the engine bay and ends 6" below just hanging in mid air (is this the water drain from the shelf area beneath the windscreen [technical term]). It's the...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Replaced the R/O/S window frame. Cracking job done I have to say and I'm particularly pleased with my fabricated 1/4-light retaining bracket, which I knocked up from 1mm galvanised (luckily nobody else will ever see it). All channels on the replacement frame now cleaned off, Hammerite smoothed...
