    Freelander 1 Skinny Mike's TD4 ES Auto

Well, I don't know what I did to the hippo over the weekend, but it went like a scolded cat on the drive to work this morning. Much fun was had :) Mike

Now you know where I keep my spare oil filter seal's. That is why they designed it like that, isn't it? Mike

Freelander 1 Alloy sump guard/ undertray

Rubber washers on each bolt and a sound insulation pad with metal backing ( looks like tin foil on it) stuck in the middle of the guard will stop most of the rattles. Mike

    Freelander 2 (LR2) I’m back!

Freelander 1 Looking for help with engine codes and limp mode issue

This is the fun and games I had with the canbus and F4. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/autobox-vss-abs-wheel-sensors.303635/ Mines sorted now. But a word of advice, don't believe the code reader when the canbus is playing up. If you want more info than what's in the thread, just ask. Mike

Freelander 1 Noisy Immobiliser Control Unit

Canbus is the communication system. So all the wiring, units such as, ECU, CCU, ABS, and the display binnacle (which acts as a hub/ that's why I asked) all talk to each other. Unfortunately it does tend to talk bollox when a part goes tits up. Mike

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

Dunno, if that's any help. Mike

    Rear brake shoe holding pins

Not really. Patience and lots of it with a flat blade screw driver and a pair of long nose pliers. If your hands are shaking, take a break, and come back later. Sending good vibes:rolleyes: Mike

That's a long way to come to get the old tank, as @Nodge68 says, they're really cheap from eBay, and even parts shops only charge about £30. Think I paid £18 from ,LR Parts. Mike

Freelander 1 Noisy Immobiliser Control Unit

Is the clicking coming from the lower dash or could it be coming from the display binnacle? Mike

    Freelander 1 Skinny Mike's TD4 ES Auto

This is what's concerning me. I'd rather leave the old ones in rather than break one. 3 off them work 90-100% of the time, with the other one being rather intermittent. This is preferable to a snapped plug. But I will have a go, just carefully. Mike

What have you done to your Freelander today

Did stuff, see today's post: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/skinny-mikes-td4-es-auto.316629/page-2#post-4227341 Nice to get back to working on the hippo. Mike:)

    Freelander 1 Skinny Mike's TD4 ES Auto

So, the decorating is done! Until the wife finds something else. Took the manifold off to get to the glow plugs. Put loads of penetrating oil on the threads so that can work its way in so they don't snap when I take them out. Whilst I had it off I cleaned the MAP sensor and the air filter. No...

    Please Help

The fob signal is picked up by a receiver in the top of the display binnacle. This then triggers the CCU to lock the car. I would hazard a guess that you still have a fuse problem or glitch in the wiring. But that being said, one of the first signs of a dying lock mechanism is that it will lock...

    Freelander 1 Bearmach Propshaft

I can't answer that, but I would be very suspicious. Maybe a call to the supplier or Bearmach themselves to verify. That would be a very expensive mistake otherwise. Mike

    Terrain Response weird issue

No expert on FL2. But if it was mine, I'd disconnect the battery for half an hour. Mike

Freelander 2, TD4 manual gearbox, as a daily driver?

The SD4 comes with a six speed autobox as standard, TD4 is manual or optional auto at extra cost. Nowt wrong with auto's. No more clutch replacement, crunching gears, changing up and down in a traffic jam. Just put it in D and go. I know I wouldn't have a manual box again, unless there was no...
