its a new intercooler from alisport, so would be very disappointed if it leaks but its possible. the egr either was not there or blanked when I got it, now has the fourby blank plate with probe for egt.

thanks will check turbo, there is still all the low down torque and possibly even a bit of boost I would say, as the band of power seems wider than the 500rpm or so I remember of n/a diesels. is it still possible fuel starvation with that in mind? there is definitely a “turbo wheeze” noise that...

So I have a 300tdi defender bought in July with 114k on clock, and now done 122k with two European tours. It had had a new timing belt, has since had head gasket, p gasket, water pump done, two full services, a new alisport oversized intercooler, all new silicon hoses and a boost pin and boost...

Don't know if this si still on tropic, but now I have my heater sort of working, albeit previously at two speeds only: full speed very noisy, and then just a lower speed noisy, I now only have full speed noisy... I assume this is just a resistor that needs replacing??? a quick series of google...

lol, I did that with a car when I was still in idiot period because I thought it looked cool; fortunately the police pulled me over and said “it does not seem very foggy to us, does it to you for any reason we may need to know about” lol - never did that again!

ah ok thx; I could take a dremel to the picture on the new switch and make the picture all foggy... it may take a while to catch on lol... thinking about it I cannot think why I would only want the front or rear fogs on their own so may just wire both in one

ah, yes, that would help, mine is a 300tdi, its in the cluster of three (rear window heater, fog light and hazzards that can never be found quickly when needed ;))

so since there is no need to vent, I blocked the holes and added dynamat to the battery box and tool box... as well as a small patch on the top of the battery box and toolbox lid; night and day in terms of cabin noise

1400 km pretty much flat out and never over 600°C :) even 6%+ extended inclines at full whack was holding 80mph on the dial (120km/h on gps) and never went above 601 was highest... previously when I did this trip it went down to 50mph on hills. Knocked 3-4 hours off a 18/19 hour trip was 15...

intercooler hose lose / intercooler blocked with soot? former was my problem on a a 300 tdi, only spotted it as the soot blow-out buildt up, kept doing it again and again until I replaced the hose jubilee clips two good quality jubilee clips installed in opposing directions... since upgraded...

aha! the led lights (fitted at same time) did come with the adjustable relay, but that was adjusted just for the timing of the indicators! I may have a play and see if that changes anything, thanks!

nice, yep they must be using the european style cam then if smooth, I know they sound nice as there were a lot of them and XKs about for a while! Ufff I did not realise expensive electronic controllers went back that far

yup, that’s nice. But you know that site are in silly territory price wise! I do like the way the US V8 engine rumble but just feel like some say here; 400hp and 6L engines... its a bit too much for a defender in 400 bhp guise. There should also be quite a few (cheaper ?) older Jag ones around...
