Ahhh. Then don't. It's fine on 'L series' though

True, but cheating can be fun. For those that don't want to cheat, check out dva power here- K Engine Page

    The Worst Job

Could always remove the inlet, pour a little petrol through it and set it alight. Works perfectly for the older L series in early Freelander 1's. Not recommended but works a treat

FL1: motor, modifications, conversion & engine swaps [K series 1.8]

No, mems 1.9 isn't mappable. You'd need post 2001 to be mems 3 then you can use a company called z&f tuning who can do it. They are the guys that worked on mapping the cars at Rover so they know their stuff. A 52mm throttle body, tf 135 cams, a good port and polish and decent cold air feed...

    Dom's kinversand freelander 3 Dr

Loving the build thread by the way. Got a scrapper 1.8 that the Missus owns. Going to keep myself busy fixing that up. This thread gives me a good idea of how it should look :clap2:

    Dom's kinversand freelander 3 Dr

My Rover track day car, passed the MOT with 3 advisories. The general rule is 'if it's there, it needs to work' and as long as there is no illuminated lights on the dash and everything that is there functions safely and properly there's no reason to fail it

    FWD PG1 in place of 4WD PG1+IRD?

I asked this question and due to the IRD only 1 drive shaft will fit. It was suggested that there's a possibility of a ZS shaft fitting but never got any sizes to be able to measure up. It's not exactly helpful  but it's a start at least

FL1: motor, modifications, conversion & engine swaps [K series 1.8]

It would be good. The 1.8T conversion was a brilliant read. The more the conversions get done, the more people will find easier ways to do things. The 1.8 turbo conversion into MG ZRs is pretty much a plug and play conversion now retaining standard engine loom and ecu, 3 years ago it was almost...

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

I know the MG boys use standard mems 3 loom and ecu for the 1.8t conversions. The 2 paths they follow are using a mapped standard mems 3 and running a manual boost controller. Or using a mems3 steptronic ecu which can be programmed to run the boost signal and running approx 180bhp. Both these...

    Love it :D

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

Is it possible to use an MGR steptronic ecu which z&f tuning can map for a 1.8t conversion into MGR's. Would that allow for the pg1 crank signal to work?

    Freelander 1.8 Turbo

I've been looking into this conversion recently. Was planning a vvc conversion late last year but circumstances didn't allow. The main stumbler for me would be to convert from the early mems 1.9 to mems 3 for the 1.8t. How did you get around the crank sensor signal issue?

    Freelander 1.8 not starting

It is pre 2001 but i'm pretty sure the 27vt was changed last year when the car wouldn't start. I'm assuming you're talking about the EKA? Would this still work with the 27vt being different? Cheers, Dave.

    Freelander 1.8 not starting

Cheers, i thought as much but i believe the 27vt has been changed at some point so it might be a case of replacing the ecu, ccu and fobs to get it back up and running, saving getting it programmed. Does anyone know if the MEMS 2 from a rover/MGF can be coded to the 27VT & Fob? The Rovers use...

    Freelander 1.8 not starting

The missus has a freelander which has been sat on a relatives farm since mid last year. I've a thread on here about my what my intentions with it are. I went to start it a few weeks back and the battery was obviously dead, tried jump starting it but nothing happened. She's never had a fob...

There's a T16 turbo converted f/tf on one of the forums. It was a very tight squeeze fitting that In, there also a rover coupe with a kv6 fitted which is tight again but done so well it looks factory fitted.

VVC Conversion questions- Please be nice

People fit upgrades to the standard 1.8 engine trying to get a bit more out of the engine, this vvc has had various parts upgraded so should be running around 150-155 Bhp and a little bit more torque. The mg zr 160 isn't much quicker than the standard vi 143 and would be more complicated to fit...

VVC Conversion questions- Please be nice

In a way i actually agree, i wont see much gains in terms of performance, but as a first conversion i though i'd give this a go. I have both vehicles, a replacement engine for the freelander would cost more than fitting the vvc unit. In retrospect i'm going to get the engine fitted up and...

The missus brother managed to punch a whole In the original gearbox knackering the propshaft. Her Dad fitted the new gearbox without one and has said recently that the rear diff is in really good condition.
