Hypothetical question:

Whilst it's obvious the physical Hippo PG1 can simply be swapped to a PG1 from say, a Rover 25/45/etc, and the gearshift support may need to be modified to suit.... what about the driveshaft lengths?

Has anyone got the lengths of the front driveshafts to hand?

Would be nice to know if a relatively simple swap, to keep an otherwise mothballed Hippo on the road, whilst the IRD is being rebuilt, is possible, or if it would require custom driveshafts

I asked this question and due to the IRD only 1 drive shaft will fit. It was suggested that there's a possibility of a ZS shaft fitting but never got any sizes to be able to measure up.

It's not exactly helpful  but it's a start at least

I've got both the short and long driveshaft from my old 220SD sat in the garage ;)

And for some bizarre reason, the thought of simply reusing the passenger side driveshaft didn't occur to me.. I guess 3 hours of broken sleep a night will do that to you eh?

anyone fancy shuffling under their hippo, and measuring from the edge of the inner cv, to the edge of the outer cv, on the driver side?

Pleeeeease?

Long since sold mine, but I think it entails having shafts made, can you measure the standard pg1 against one with ird, this will give you the amount to be added

that's what I've just asked for ;)

comparing the installed length from a hippo, to the installed shafts on my Rover 45, will give us a good idea what's needed
