    Millage

Might be worth changing the crank seals and timing belt. I've seen a few with worn big ends, although they ran fine. Trouble with the 200 TDI is that the ladder frame makes it an engine out job to change them.

    blown fuse

My 19j had no relay for the glow plugs, it was a direct feed from the ignition switch.

Help needed with new Shock absorbers

....my apologies, just looked it up and apparently the Santana IV was fitted with leaf springs. You learn something every day!

Help needed with new Shock absorbers

As above. As far as I know 1988 was coil springs.

    84 Landrover 110 - Revamping

Can't say anything to some of your options, mainly because its down to personal preferance, but with regards to seats, I have just fitted Mazda RX8 leather heated seats to my 90 and for the money and effort, come highly recommended. Comfort and looks much improved.

    Holes in bulkhead ledge

Yes, the holes are in the top bulkhead ledge that the screen frame sits on, about 30mm from the end. There are no locating pegs on my frame, just the ones on the bulkhead ledge. Mine has rotted where these holes are located, so don't have a picture to share I'm afraid.

    Holes in bulkhead ledge

I am currently repairing my bulkhead on my 1989 90 and have noticed that there are two small factory made holes either end of the windscreen frame ledge. Were these intended for drainage (under the seal) and is there a concencus whether they should remain? I ask because it is in exactly these...

Defender N/A to 200tdi Conversion Air filter problem

Btw, I mounted mine vertically and welded the housing onto the original TD legs. Check out the Glencoyne engineering website for details. Works well, but still tight for space.

Defender N/A to 200tdi Conversion Air filter problem

I've just been through this. I used a 200 TDI disco airbox which has a plastic breather interface that fits on the end of the airbox. There should be loads of them around. Be careful which rad cowl you choose as if you use a Disco TDI engine, the water pump is in a different position.

    Another rear crank seal question...

I put a thin smear of engine grade silicon on the seal body ( not the lip!).

    Check your drain holes!

Take a peek underneath directly below the A-post (situated between wing and door). On mine there's a single hole about 5 mm.

    Check your drain holes!

At the base of the A pillars. Mine were pretty obscured.

    Check your drain holes!

Will do. A job for the cone cutters methinks.

    Check your drain holes!

Whilst addressing some slight corrosion on my 1989 90s bulkhead, I thought I had better check the A-post drain holes. At first I couldn't find them- they were completely obscured by mud. A few pokes with a screwdriver found them but to my horror they both had an inch or two of mud in them. All...

    Hi from Dorset

Welcome to the forum! I am also from Dorset and have an 89 90 that is currently off road pending some minor refurbishment. I really miss not using it and hope to get it all back together by Easter next year. Enjoy the forum!

Thanks chaps. Used Turner seal in the end. Fingers crossed!

    Defender Headlights

Upgraded wiring harness with relays and a direct (fused) battery feed would be my chosen route. You can make this fairly easily, or just buy one.

    200TDI Flywheel housing-sealer or gasket

Finally got around to getting my old 200TDI back together and just about to fit the flywheel housing (new Dowty seal fitted). What is the general opinion on this- gasket or sealant or gasket with sealant? I have the ERR1440G original style gasket, which has the raised ribs to help seal, but...

    SP 4x4.

I purchased some door skins and door repair sections from SP 4x4. I was quite shocked to discover that the whole lot had just been thrown in one box with no additional protection at all. Even the courier shook the box with amusement when I collected them! Suffice to say skins were scratched and...

Defender 90 2.5 TD drinking oil

Pop your air filter out and see if it is wet with oil. A few oily marks are probably ok but heavy oil contamination suggests excessive blowby.
