Was just about to press the button on a large order from SP but decided to read the terms and conditions re. Delivery . Living over here would cost £75. Thats not the issue. Apparently any damage is not covered by ins., so once it leaves the depot, you are at the mercy of the couriers. I'm ordering ally door skins aswell as other things and obviously don't want these damaged before fitting . Has anyone here ordered any skins or panels and how were they packaged. I'm hoping they would have hardboard lined boxes at least . Just need to know so I can sort out my own courier and have them stick it on a pallet.

You might be better asking SP directly, tell them your concerns.

I've bought a few things from another supplier and whilst some are well packed, some are abysmal, 'friday afternoon' packaging so maybe other users might have different ideas ... but I'd guess SP's reputation is good 'cos they don't usually screw up what's their recognised core business ... ;)

I did order rear door for a Defender from them and it had a dent in one corner. They were not interested and referred me to their terms and conditions!

Personally I would never use them again, they are selling fairly fragile parts and if they can’t find someone or some way to deliver them without damage then it should be collection only

I'll give them a call Monday. If they will put it on a pallet for no cost then I might try and get my local delivery company a call.at least they will be insured from pickup .

I’ve recently bought front wing panels from them. They were packaged in there own boxes strapped within a larger box. That was it though, no impact resistant packing. Luckily there were no dents or scratches. Hope this sheds some light for you.

I had a pair of foot skins a couple of weeks ago, not great packing and when the courier turned up with them he wouldn't let me open the boxes to check for damage. I signed for them as damaged any way with really peed off the driver. Thankfully there was no damage to them.

I purchased the two rear light panels (either side of he rear door on the tub), and the two panels between the rear doors and tub on a 110CSW. Ordered Wednesday, dispatched Thursday, received Friday. Very quick delivery, but the only “packaging” was the boxes they were sent it. One of each panel in each box, 2 identical boxes taped together. No packing material between panels, or to pack out the space in the box. The boxes arrived in good condition, but one of the panels had a bend in one corner and the **** black paint peeling off.

They didn’t seem that interested to be honest, but did offer to send a pre paid returns box to send it all back.

I would avoid them at all cost and contact YRM for any bits I need in the future.

I looked at yrm but they only do repair pieces, no doors or door skins AFAIK. Reading SP,s T&c, they are very blunt about damage to goods but go on about them being a family run business.

if you want to ensure you get guaranteed perfect go and fetch them,or pay sums that would make a product uncommercial

From what I've read T&C's if in the UK and check when delivered, sign for as damaged and notify them within 24 hours then you can claim.

I purchased some door skins and door repair sections from SP 4x4. I was quite shocked to discover that the whole lot had just been thrown in one box with no additional protection at all. Even the courier shook the box with amusement when I collected them! Suffice to say skins were scratched and one corner bent when 'unpackaged'.

Pay with a credit card, or even better Paypal with a registered credit card. You will then be able to claim a refund if the items are damaged and the supplier refuses to sort the problem. Any business supplying items that are sent by a delivery service has to ensure the goods will arrive in perfect condition.

Good idea but being so long out of the self employed loop and having no loans, I was refused a credit card . Unbelievable!

I think a paypal registered debit card (VISA) would still allow you to claim a refund if damaged goods were not replaced by supplier. Although of course the supplier my not accept Paypal if they have such a negative replacement policy which I believe must be against the Distance Selling Regulations in the UK or an equivalent regulation in the EU. The supplier is providing the service of goods delivery and charging a significant sum for it in your case, so legally the goods must be delivered in perfect condition.
