    Series three rear oil seal

Fantastic news mate! No mockery here. Just glad of a nice simple fix. Good on yer.

At a guess, is this relay worth saving?

No, you’ll be ok. Have a look at the pictures of mine again. There’s a photo of the relay in a vice with one end cap off and nothing flies to pieces. Because the shaft has the cone shaped bits and the bushes are corresponding cones they will contain the spring. You can take both ends off and it...

    Thoughts on this 109

It’s a good job I’ve got my landy because by the looks of prices these days there’s nothing out there that I could afford.

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

Rinsing like there’s no tomorrow is the key.

Swiss Army Series 2a 109 project

Sounds good. Remember that you’re talking to a bloke here who’s been restoring a series 3 for nine years. I know all about snags, hold ups and unforeseen circumstances. 🤣

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

I think it would have. If i'd used it first I think I could have skipped most of the other stuff. I didn't do it sooner because I really thought I would probably ruin it. When it became clear that it wasn't going to shift any other way I just thought it either works or i'll have to find a better...

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

Seatbox progress. The plan is to use rattle can etch primer for a better finish on the bits that will be visible and will end up being green. Underneath it's going to be Hammerite special metals primer and then Hammerite satin black all brushed on.

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

Very little to report. So many other things that need doing before I get chance to have a go at the land rover. Nevermind. Here's a little victory that has surprised me. The screen wash bottle was filthy and covered with over spray in two different colours where the previous owners had run out...

Swiss Army Series 2a 109 project

Interesting stuff. Good luck with it. Added to my watch list.

    Honestly, how bad is it?

If you do start digging you'll find more problems. It's never better than you think it will be.

    Ingenious set up. Nice one.

At a guess, is this relay worth saving?

I enjoyed rebuilding mine. It wasn't as far gone as your one but I did like being able to do one of those jobs that most people say you would be stupid to tackle. I made a tool to compress the spring back in and even then it was squeaky bum time because it can be dangerous. In case it helps...

    Series III replacement rear door

Just thought if the hinges haven't been off before you will probably need some of the captive nut thingies that go in the door pillar and some new screws with the big countersunk head that you can see in the hinges. There are two types of screw I think, one longer that the other. Loads of grease...

    Series III replacement rear door

There's a lot of jiggle room in the hinges. I get very anxious about trying to get gaps and alignment perfect but you can't. Don't drive yourself bonkers like I do. Jiggle it, shim it, twist it and get it to a point where you can live with it. Then if one of the rivet counters comes along and...

    Series III replacement rear door

Give it a try. You might be the chosen one. If it does work go straight out and buy a lottery ticket because you are on fire baby!

    Anti seize/copper grease and nylocs

Britpart have a good safety system for their spring washers. I've had several of theirs that went on brand new, had to be taken back off shortly after and they cracked and fell to pieces. No ambiguity there.

    Footwell repair panels

That's a surprise, they are normally very good.

Or the Welding Wood on Facebook or YRM metal solutions.

    Footwell repair panels

I bought really cheap repair panels when I was sorting my series 3 bulkhead. Never again. Get the best ones, not the cheap ones. That way they might get close to fitting. I'm still having problems now with reassembling and because they are in and painted it's a nightmare.

    Anti seize/copper grease and nylocs

I'll tell you how mean I am. I think it's the 5/16 nylocs from Paddocks used to cost 5p each and I would get really mardy if wasted one. It would ruin my day! ;)
