    Disco 2 Transfer box leak

Does this look like an output seal? Not driven it since I spotted the leak, believe it started on the journey home as it was dry under it at my office car park. Wondering what the cost of fixing it is vs the effect on resale value. I’ve got an allowance from work for something new and I just...

    New defender picture

Here’s hoping the production car is less ugly, not that there’s a chance in hell of me ever affording one anyway :D

    Disco 2 thinking of a D2

My small leak turned into a huge one, was a paper gasket apparently, garage had to take the transfer box off it to replace it.

    2000 Discovery td5 issues

Do you have access to diagnostics anywhere? Without it it's just guess work which can get expensive. Was it running well despite the lack of power?

    Disco 2 thinking of a D2

I’ve not really looked to be honest but what should the MAF be reading? I have a nanocom, not looked at the MAF readings yet as there are other issues to sort.

    Disco 2 thinking of a D2

Mine seems fixed at about 23 mpg, best so far 23.8. Plan to look at the MAF once the manifold is sorted.

    Problem getting worse

My red plug was clean, new loom fixed my issues. Will keep my fingers crossed for you!

    Disco 2 thinking of a D2

I’ve had a serious ATF leak which cost me about £250 to get sorted on the quick. Have seen M&S lights in the past too due to a low battery and more recently a blown fusible link. They do have their issues certainly but if you’re buying a D2 you should be expecting to need to do some regular...

    Disco 2 thinking of a D2

Fuel economy on my Auto isn’t great but I do like wafting about in it so I don’t mind too much! I have become an auto convert since having one in a recent company car.

Range rover 2.7 tdv6 camshaft issue

Honestly no idea, just seen enough horror stories to accept that a D3 TDV6 isn’t something I can afford to take a chance on. You’ll get more attention from those that actually know what they are talking about in the appropriate bit of the forum. Hope you get it sorted!

Range rover 2.7 tdv6 camshaft issue

Unfortunately it’s not uncommon for the 2.7 to fail in this way and it’s likely terminal from what I understand. Some people buy an S type Jag as an engine donor.

    Fuel gauge fault

Hi, this would be better in the disco section, this is more for hellos and photos if you’ve got any? We all like a pic! While I’m here though I guess the first question is when it does die is there any fuel in it? One way to check is to fill it at that point, 88l tank so you should be getting...

    Problem getting worse

Sounds a lot like when my injector loom failed. When it missed you could turn it off and on again and all would be fine.

    discovery td5 dashwarning light

After fitting new brakes I had the amigos on and off for a few weeks. Been fine for a while now so probably dust or something on the sensor. They are interesting beasts to work out!

Disco 2 Where to go for some welding in/around Essex

Hi all, any recommendations? Have a small bit on the chassis, passenger footwell and inner wing to sort. Doesn’t look like anything drastic, have seen one semi-retired welder but he didn’t fancy moving some of the wiring etc and prefers working on older stuff which is fair enough. Have found...

    235 85 16 swap

Basically what I said. And if they are old regardless of how they look now they may well be past their safe life anyway. Check for a date on them.

    235 85 16 swap

How old are they though? They may be past their best and may start to crack in use. I may have missed it but what do you do with the car? They are alot bigger than standard, will mess up your gearing, speedo will under read, will mean you have to cut your bodywork to suit, possibly even the...

    235 85 16 swap

I fitted 245/75/16, needed a very slight trim to the innermost lip of the rear arch but that was it. It did make a difference to its performance, you’d probably want to look at different ratios to suit and I think you’ll need to cut quite a bit assuming you do use it off tarmac.
