Hello I have a discovery td5 2003 2.5 turbo diesel any suggestion when my fuel gauge reads a 1/4 of a tank my landrover dies like it ran out of fuel put 30 pound worth of diesel in runs fine I have done nearly 400 miles since it conked out on a 1/4 tank last time replaced the sender unit but still have the issue of conking out when reads 1/4 of a tank any suggestions would be much appreciated for what I can do next thanku

Hi, this would be better in the disco section, this is more for hellos and photos if you’ve got any? We all like a pic!

While I’m here though I guess the first question is when it does die is there any fuel in it? One way to check is to fill it at that point, 88l tank so you should be getting somewhere near that in it from empty. If you’re only getting say 50 or 60l in then you know it’s fuel delivery related rather than the gauge being wrong.

Thanku all for welcoming me to the group I just want say my fuel gauge fault is solved I measured the depth of the tank then measured the from the gauge on the pump to the float and they measured the same so while I had the pump out I layed it on it's back plugged the power cable back in switched ignition on and loads gunk flew out so out it back together my fuel gauge in dashboard dropped down to where is should be and took a can of fuel out just incase but I have now let it run way past nearly into the red and my td5 has been running great since so if any one else has same sort of issue just try what I done and see how you go but for me it's a job well done and saved me alot of money thanks everyone

If there was gunk in your pump, there must be gunk in your tank. Did you clean that out anorl?
