Strata Florida & Happy Valley 12/13 March 2011

I know that hairpin. Did it two winters ago and the Series I was with had trouble bottoming out on the leaf spring plates in the ruts. Got the Td5 90 (no TC) I was driving almost out of the ruts but ran out of momentum with 3 feet to go.

    Just how fast?!

My 110 (M reg 300Tdi) will hit 80 easily, haven't timed a 0-60 but did manage to squeeze past a Halfords Corsa in Gloucester in December. Was carrying 9 people plus guns and ammo at the time :D

    your Defenders nick name?

Ed's bus - simply because I own it and talk 9 people shooting in it regularly...

    Shooting on Forestry Commission land

You may want to check up on that - they'll probably run a thousand miles when they see it's shooting related. The CPSA and BASC do good deals and know what they're talking about should there be any issues.

    Shooting on Forestry Commission land

You can shoot on FC land but you'll usually (as mentioned) have to provide comprehensive insurance plus pay a substantial fee. Although this is usually for deer-stalking as opposed to vermin control. Ultimately it's privately-owned land so therefore you require their permission to shoot...

    Whoops...

    Except for the performance...

    Whoops...

I was implying you're weighted up going in but not out - unless you're taking stuff rather than depositing :-)

    Whoops...

I'd have thought the problem was getting back out again... :p

    Whoops...

Fitted standard van back springs to the 110 (it's a CSW so has a dysfunctional self-levelling unit) a few weeks ago. They were fitted because of the dysfunctional unit but also I'm carrying a fair amount of weight in the back usually so with a gun cabinet permanently installed there now thought...

    Landrover Test Drive

Depends - they'd probably manage OK on the test-track... :p

    Landrover Test Drive

Depends where you take the test drive - ours (with the D4) ended up bring in Gaydon and weren't allowed to take piccy's because it's theirs, Jag's and Aston's prototype facility :(

    Landrover Test Drive

They won't take exception - haven't driven the Freelander 2 but did get an invite to test out the Discovery 4. What a machine, although still prefer the 110 - the D4 makes it too easy...

    Defender 90 or 110?

Because they're more practical they're far more desirable - hence the price increase.

    Defender 90 or 110?

They're not cheap to say the least - when I bought mine it was intended to be a primary vehicle hence spent a little more than I intended but well worth the investment so far.

    Defender 90 or 110?

Having had a 90 and currently got a 110 and Series III then the one I would always get is the 110. I (used to) do a fair amount of climbing and a lot of shooting at the moment and for practicality it can only be the 110. I haven't done any pay n' plays but went and did some pretty tight...

roof on series 111 the same as 90 ?

It won't - from what I've heard (and will be examining to do so) is that an 88" sides fit on the rear panels of a 110 whilst the 90 doesn't - thereby implying they're not the same...

    Which Multimeter

--|DT830D|DIGITAL MULTIMETER + CONTINUITY | CPC When they cost a few quid then you can afford to blow them up. Honestly though we've never had any issue with those ones and they're more than enough for Land Rovers.

    Need a civilised landy :(

It's only meant to apply to commercial vehicles. Unfortunately they consider my 9-seater 110 CSW a minibus therefore has to comply. Will be removing 2 seats over the summer and informing the DVLA so that it'll now be a 7-seater and thus exempt...

    coolant leak

Meh - just thought I'd mention it. BTW - I hate Td5s  After trying to diagnose stuff 300Tdi is far simpler, 2.25D even easier...
