If the engine was original to the Land Rover then it ought to be 2 litre .

    Full canvas hood on 107"

I am not really able to tell you the difference between Series One and Series Two hoods as I have never been in a position to compare them . But as the rear tub of the Series Ones are very different to the Series Twos I think trying to adapt one would be more trouble than it is worth . That is...

This is the only photo I have and even that isn't very helpful.

    Full canvas hood on 107"

Now I am really confused . Ex moor Trim do not have 109" full canvas hoods for Series One 109"s( or if they do I couldn't find them). They do have 109" full canvas hoods for Series Two and Three 109"s . They are not interchangeable as they are different sizes completely . As I said before a full...

    Full canvas hood on 107"

The extra two inches on the 109" is at the front . The front axle was moved forward to accommodate the new diesel , it does not affect anything passed the bulkhead . The hood sticks will be the same for a 107" and a109", although as neither of them were sold with a full length canvas roof...

    Series 3 Series 2 & 3 front ends swap

The date must be wrong , as there is nothing Series One about that Land Rover. Why would anyone in this day and age devalue their Series One by turning it into a Series Three ? Should it be 1965 rather than 1956 ?

    1965 series 2a restoration ( not the lemon )

I am a bit confused . At the start you said that this is a 1971 Series Three but the number plate and bulkhead says it is a IIa. The heading also says that it is a IIa . Have I missed something ? Having said that , you have done a good job .

You are more likely to find these items here.... http://www.lrsoc.com/forum/index.php. Though if you put some commas between the items they will be more understandable.

Another good reason for joining the LRSOC is that there are quite a few members who live in the States some of whom might be able to give you help . May we take it that yours won't end up looking like this one ! ( I actually like the look of it)

    Series 1 barn find

Here are a couple of photos of RGX 73 . 5 years ago it resided in a barn next to my 107" pickup . The number plate can be seen on the wing behind the steering wheel .

    Series 1 barn find

Possibly , but Richards are the only manufactureres that build Series One chassis these days . Whether they have the pattern for a 107" station wagon I couldn't say , because they are different to standard 107" chassis . I wouldn't be surprised if it cost £5,000 to have one built and shipped to...

  18. R

    2a or 3

Series 11s are rarer than 11As as they were only made for three years, although the differences are minimal . If I were in the market for something like that I would want a Series11 rather than anything later. To my mind if the later upgrades work leave them for the time being as they could...
