Personally I think you'll be lucky to get 15mpg on the road with big tyres. Don't forget there's handling compromises when you jack it all up. Manouevering a top heavy disco is noticeably trickier than standard. There's not many places I can't go with my standard set up with special track tyres!

Decent plugs and leads are essential. You could try throwing some injector cleaner in a tank of fuel as well.

Er, no, you shouldn't smell petrol. I reckon I get 250 miles to 50 litres, if that's any help?!

If you can be bothered taking the centre console out (the bit around the gear lever / diff lock lever) all will be revealed. Takes about 20 minutes to get it all out and you can check diff lock lever and linkages. If it's not moved in 5 years it could probably do with cleaning and greasing!
